High Performance Medical Solutions (HPMS), is a global contract manufacturer for OEMs. We specialize in manufacturing medical tubing and cable, which are mission-critical components in the surgical, vascular, endoscopy, and ultrasound device markets. Our ISO Class 8 and Class 9 cleanrooms provide over 30,000 ft2 of cleanroom space allowing us to offer robust in-house solutions such as turnkey secondary operations like tipping, printing, punching, sub-assembly for catheters, plus device kitting.Position Summary The Braiding Operator is responsible for the operation of a braiding machine(s) to ensure optimum production speed and efficiency. This job operates in a manufacturing, cleanroom environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles. The ambient noise of this work environment is at or above OSHA-stipulated levels which require hearing protection to be worn. This position requires the employee to wear required protective equipment that may include but not limited to eye protection, hearing protection, goggles, safety boots and gloves. Employees working in this environment are automatically placed in the company's Hearing Conservation Program and their hearing is checked annually for signs of deterioration.   • Set up, operate, monitor and maintain braiding machines
  • Makes necessary adjustments to process to optimize quality and output
  • Performs bobbin changeovers and knot-up mends as necessary
  • Replaces spools as required and removes finished product spool from braiding machine
  • Performs line clearance activities as necessary
  • Implement core changes as necessary
  • Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines; conducts daily inspections
  • Utilizes Smart Scope and/or vision system to examine and verify braid pick counts
  • Utilizes scan gun and/or computer to input data into RF Smart and/or AX ERP system
  • Fills out all necessary traveler paperwork/logs associated with the job
  • Keeps work area clean and free of debris, trash, and excess material
  • Assists in monitoring braiding and extrusion line setup/operation as well as pulling cores, traying, and packaging as needed
  • Occasional off-shift or weekend work may be required as business needs demand
  • Frequently lift/carry items over 100 pounds
  • Obey all safety rules, use caution in work activities, and continuously practice safe behaviors
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions/behaviors and work-related injuries to site supervision
QualificationsRequired
  • High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred
  • 1+ years of work experience with braiding machines or comparable equipment preferred
  • Ability to understand specific directions and follow guidelines that are common throughout the department
  • Mechanical - knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses repair, and maintenance
  • Troubleshooting - determining causes of operating errors and deciding on a course of action
  • Ability to take instruction and apply using judgment in various situations is necessary
  • Must be able to work with a high level of initiative while under moderate supervision
