Description: Operate and assist in the set up of various types of power brakes, power rolls, and stretch presses to perform standard operations such as bending, forming, straightening, rolling and stretching a wide variety of metal details and extrusions into specified angles and/or contours.Follow standard practices and prescribed procedures and other oral or written instructions to operate power brakes, power rolls and stretch presses to bend, form, straighten, stretch, punch, or roll metal blanks or extrusions into a wide variety of forms such as channels, angles, T-sections, contoured skins, shaped extrusions, plates, flanged webs and bars. Follow instructions to make simple set ups receiving assistance from higher grade operators in more difficult situations. Position metal blanks against stops and trip release to bend metal to required shapes. Select proper sequence of bends on sections requiring multiple bends. Keep record of gage settings and templates used. Pencil mark bending lines and rolling limits; manually insert and position material and lower rolling ramp to predetermined depth by checking dial indicator. Help set up stretch dies on press table; locate proper mounting holes on the table and secure dies to table with spacer blocks. Under direction of higher grade operator, operate stretch press. Use hydraulic pump, air gun, power joggle, etc. and hand hammer and joggle parts on dies as required. Load and unload presses, move parts to and from refrigerators, and move parts and tools around work area as required. Fill tubing with sand or cero-bend, oil parts and tools, and perform other related forming duties in area to facilitate forming cell production. Ensure all work assignments meet specified standards and tolerances. Check work to ensure quality standards are maintained. Perform daily and periodic cleaning of tools to insure proper utilization of equipment. Drill, grind, trim, burr, ID and document work as required to complete job assignment. Perform other duties of a related or similar nature, as directed. Follow all rules and regulations pertaining to environmental health and safety; contribute to the overall effectiveness of equipment by performing operator required upkeep, segregate waste material and follow good housekeeping practices. Refer only unusual conditions to working leader or supervisor.Basic Qualifications:Require H.S. diploma and/or equivalent degree.Require 0 - 1+ years' experience.Work from ordinary drawings and sketches and use variable measuring instruments such as micrometers and vernier gages. Requires knowledge of arithmetic involving decimals and fractions and its application to the reading of drawings and the use of variable measuring instruments.Requires a well-rounded knowledge of sheet metal, breaking, the working qualities of metals, and the ability to work from difficult drawings, laying out own work and using variable measuring instruments.Desired Skills:Equivalent to 2 years high school plus 2 to 3 years trades training.Clearance Level: NoneOther Important Information You Should KnowExpression of Interest: By applying to this job, you are expressing interest in this position and could be considered for other career opportunities where similar skills and requirements have been identified as a match.
