Position Summary
Schedule: 3 openings available; Sun-Thurs 9:00a - 5:30p, Tues-Sat 10a - 6:30p, Tues-Sat 11a - 7:30p
The primary role of this position is assisting in the daily execution of all brewing/cellaring and transferring operations, cleaning all brewing and brewing related equipment/spaces and contributing as a member of the brewing team. In order to help ensure all aspects of this position are performed as expected, measurable metrics will be provided along with regularly scheduled performance reviews.
An ideal applicant will be highly skilled, consistently punctual and enjoy working with a variety of skilled individuals who share similar values and goals.
General Duties/Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment:
- Advocate a safe working environment by adhering to all PPE requirements and policies, and reporting incidents and near misses to assigned supervisor
- Understand all Clean in Place procedures
- Daily routine, and regular deep cleaning and sanitization of required tanks, pumps and filtration systems and equipment, floors, drains and other systems
- Annual chemical training, proper cleaning chemical usage and proper chemical titrations
- Conformation of brewing equipment cleanliness thru swabbing, titration or other standard tests
- Follow all SOPs and work instructions
- Fill tanks with water for future brews
- Assist in finishing/filtering starter for base brews
- Changeover Filtration pads and socks
- Assist in the transfer base product through appropriate filtration to appropriate tank
- Inject flavors from flavor kitchen to correct brite tank
- Assist with other brewers/ flavoring duties as needed
- Ensure carbonation systems are set to packaging tanks when flavoring is completed
- Abide by GMP/SQF and HACCP standards
- Record and enter data into all appropriate spreadsheets, checklists or documents
- Organization and cleaning of all tools and equipment
- Assist in Koelschip fermentation monitoring, transfers and cleaning processes
- Participation in brewery projects and teams as needed
Food Safety and Quality Responsibilities
- Follow GMP policy when in the production facility and encourage your team to do the same
- Understand our SQF policies relating to pest control, visitors, allergen management, and cleaning and sanitation
- Demonstrate awareness of Management's Commitment to SQF and work towards Food Safety and Quality and help the company meet this commitment
- Report any problem that involves food quality and safety to the Quality Assurance Manager so that the CAPA (corrective action, preventative action) log may be filled out, the situation be investigated, and resolved with the goal of continuous improvement of food quality and safety
Required Skills/Abilities
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues
- Awareness of how to handle high pressure pumps and tanks
- Forklift and pallet jack experience preferred but not required
- Keen attention to detail
- High standard of cleanliness
- Knowledge of food safety standards
- Proficiency with spreadsheet/ document data entry
- Heightened awareness of safety precautions and hazards for self and others
- Ability to interact effectively at all levels within the organization
- Ability to multitask and be flexible

- We believe in investing in our team members' learning, growth, and relationship building. The person in this role will travel to our Asheville, NC area headquarters for a week of paid onsite onboarding and learning (with company provided hotel, meal stipend, and mileage reimbursement)
- Two tentative shifts available: M-F, 6:30a-3p, and T-S, 9a-5:30p
- Extended shifts, overtime, and weekends may be needed based on business needs
- Flexibility in work hours is necessary to meet operational demands
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum 1 year brewing or batch mixing experience, mixing chemicals, or knowledge of pressurized pumps and handling pressures between 0 and 50 psi in tanks
