Broadband Member Engagement Specialist

Shelby Electric Cooperative (SEC) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Broadband Member Engagement Specialist. This position is full-time and will work 40 hours per week (Monday - Friday).

This position is one of the first points of contact with all of our members. It is imperative that this person be able to provide prompt, courteous, friendly service to our member-owners and visitors.

Minimum qualifications:
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Post high school education is preferred.
  • Must have one year of general office experience. Experience working with the public and/or sales is preferred.
  • Must have the ability to successfully interact with the public.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills among members and co-workers.
  • Must have the ability to effectively balance and complete numerous tasks and job functions simultaneously and with frequent interruptions.
  • Must be able to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Must have moderate typing and data entry skills.
  • Must have experience with word processing software and spreadsheets with preference in Microsoft Office.
  • Must have computer skills with an understanding of the internet.
  • Must have analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Essential Job Duties

  • Assemble and enter all data to process new installs, moves, disconnect and reconnect and maintain member files on an ongoing basis to ensure that the information is accurate, the member is billed correctly, and proper inventory counts are maintained.
  • Answer incoming calls in a prompt, courteous and efficient manner ensuring that calls are properly and promptly completed.
  • Perform consultative sales with customers face-to-face, via the phone and at outside events.
  • Assist in the routing of installation and repair work assigned.
  • Technical support and troubleshooting of equipment for members and installers.
  • Serves as a back-up to the Cashier/Receptionist as needed.
  • Applicants must be able to pass pre-employment screenings that include a background check and drug testing.
