Summary
The Production Specialist works together with Production Management to establish short-term and long-term goals for the assembly and production of finished products. To effectively manage and achieve these plans, they may operate Production lines and support line-side workers. The Production Specialist will also utilize the manufacturing systems to manage production-related data and production indices (Example: KPI's, operational rates). The Production Specialist also manages inventory of semi-finished and finished products produced on the assembly line.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Based on an understanding of the product and equipment, maximizing production efficiency and producing high-quality products is necessary.
- Support issue resolution through root cause analysis, implementing permanent countermeasures, and an environment of continuous learning and improvement.
- Uses appropriate problem-solving tools to provide rapid improvement with sustainable results.
- Assist process engineering with part processing and troubleshooting for ongoing scrap reduction, cycle time reduction, and downtime reduction.
- Ensures adherence to standard processes for data collection, documentation, and reporting.
- Coordinate the efficient use of raw materials and ingredients in making products.
- Manage daily operations through KPI, problem-solving, and driving continuous improvement to achieve the KPI targets.
- Support and manage continuous improvement activities in safety, environmental, quality, cost, efficiency, and productivity objectives.
- Partner and Coordinate with Engineering, Materials, Maintenance, and other internal departments to resolve issues and concerns.
- Ensure production teams utilize standardized work and consistent work practices across shifts and areas.

Basic Qualifications: The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required and preferred for this position.
- A strong sense of urgency and commitment to production.
- Strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and a positive attitude
- Fluent with standard MS Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering/science or equivalent manufacturing experience.
- In lieu of experience candidate must have a bachelor's degree in engineering (0- 1 years) or
- 2+ year experience in a manufacturing setting
- Fluent with CAD programs (ex. AutoCAD)
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret detailed mechanical assembly drawings and accurately measure and inspect tolerances.
- Experience and/or familiar with performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean Manufacturing techniques
- Results-oriented written and verbal communication skills
- Time management skills
- Ability to manage to change priorities and employ sound business judgment.
- Ability to work with and develop production performance metrics (efficiency, quality, safety, throughput, costs)
- Proven interpersonal and team building skills.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Not required.
Working Conditions:
- Incumbent works 8 to 10-hour shifts with occasional weekend assignments
- The employee may need to move around the production floor frequently.
- Overtime may be required as needed.
