Join our team as a Budget Analyst II, where you'll play a pivotal role in shaping financial strategies and supporting our organization's growth and success. As a budget analyst, you're naturally curious about what's happening around you and willing to dig into reports, ask questions, and seek out answers. You will be a key resource to support the greater finance team and county leadership. Serving in this dynamic role, you will work collaboratively with team members and upper management to provide critical financial and budgetary support, with a focus on:
- Economic Development and Long-term Fiscal Planning: Take the lead in monitoring key economic development projects. You'll attend meetings, develop financial models, and oversee incentive qualifications to ensure these projects align with Chesterfield's fiscal priorities. Beyond current projects, you'll evaluate long-term development initiatives, assessing their future impact. Your insight on planning cases and returns on development will guide county leadership on long-term decision making.
- Community Engagement: Engage in interesting and community-relevant projects involving economic and demographic data, contributing to our impact and outreach. You'll have the opportunity to work on unique and challenging projects that make a tangible difference in the community.
- Strategic Collaboration & Portfolio Oversight: Collaborate with department heads to develop financial needs and manage diverse department budgets, providing insightful analysis and strategic recommendations.
- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrate expertise in reconciling financial reports and ensuring accuracy in financial data analysis for local government budgeting and long-term analyses using tools such as Excel, Power BI, ArcGIS, and various statistical software.
Here's What You Need:Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, Economics, or a related field; three years of responsible experience in a complex budgeting and/or fiscal management of a large department/organization and long-term economic/project development forecasting; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.The successful candidate will share a passion for local government; possess strong analytical, accounting, and critical thinking skills with attention to detail and organization; knowledge of budget management; excel at independent problem solving; possess strong interpersonal skills; and work well with a dynamic team and thrive in a fast-paced environment.Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required.This position is a part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) and offers career progression opportunities and salary incentives, as funding permits, based on performance, qualifications, and experience.What's in it for You:If you are passionate about making a difference in the community, join our team.
