Job Description:

Position Summary

As the Building and Grounds Supervisor, you will provide supervision and direction to maintenance and custodial staff. Responsibilities include:

* Assigning and reviewing work, completing performance evaluations, participating in hiring, and providing training to staff.

* Managing custodial services.

* Developing and updating emergency procedures for hazardous materials spills, exposure control, environmental protection, and fire evacuations and inspect any problem areas as needed.

* Overseeing a preventative maintenance program.

* Monitoring inventory and ordering supplies as needed.

* Assisting the Building and Grounds Superintendent with project planning and acting on behalf of them in their absence.

Salary Information

The starting pay is $31.00-$35.00 per hour (approximately $64,400-$72,800 per year) plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 81/04.

Job Details

* All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SRSTC or medical personnel approved by the facility after their start date.

* All applicants who may be appointed will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

* DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

* This position requires the ability to work in confined spaces, sustain brief exposure to noxious fumes and poor ventilation, dust, and other elements that affect eyes and respiratory system and work in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:

* Experience in building and mechanical repair and maintenance.

* Experience with general inventory management duties (e.g., monitoring supplies, reviewing/receiving orders when they arrive, purchasing, stocking supplies, etc.).

* Experience establishing or maintaining a preventative maintenance program.

Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:

* Experience using an electronic work order system.

* Experience developing and managing remodeling or repair projects.

* Experience leading or managing buildings and grounds operations of a multi-building facility.

* Experience working in a healthcare facility, corrections facility, or other secure campus environment.
