Position Summary The Controls Technician will play a crucial role in the design, implementation, and optimization of automated building control systems, especially HVAC system automation, with a strong emphasis on the Tridium Niagara N4 platform. The successful candidate will have strong experience with building and HVAC automation systems, a deep understanding of Tridium Niagara N4, and a commitment to ensuring that our building operations are efficient, safe, and sustainable.Job Responsibilities
- HVAC System Automation:
- Design and program HVAC control sequences to optimize energy consumption while maintaining occupant comfort.
- Integrate to HVAC equipment including chillers, boilers, air handling units, VAV boxes, and other related components, using multiple communication protocols, including, OPC, Modbus, Bacnet and LON
- Monitor and control space conditions using sensors and programmable logic.
- Commission HVAC systems to ensure they operate as per the design intent and meet regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers and contractors to ensure HVAC equipment is installed correctly and meets specifications.
- Perform regular audits of HVAC systems to identify opportunities for energy conservation or operational improvements.
- Design, program, and configure Tridium Niagara N4 systems for building automation.
- Interface with other building systems in addition to HVAC, such as lighting, security, and energy management.
- Monitor and troubleshoot system performance, diagnosing and rectifying issues as they arise.
- Collaborate with other engineers, technicians, and stakeholders to optimize overall building performance.
- Conduct routine system audits to ensure optimal performance and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Provide training to operations and maintenance staff on system functionality and best practices, including HVAC-specific trainings.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and advancements within the field of building automation and HVAC controls.
- Collaborate on multidisciplinary projects and provide controls expertise as required.
- Generate detailed documentation, including system diagrams, sequences of operation, and user manuals.
Experience Requirements
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience with building and HVAC automation systems.
- In-depth knowledge of Tridium Niagara V4 platform.
- Experience with other building automation systems and platforms is a plus.
- Familiarity with industry-standard communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency with programming and system configuration.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team-based environment as well as independently.
- Familiarity with local building codes and industry standards.
- Tridium Niagara N4 Certification preferred.
- Other relevant industry certifications are a plus.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including tight spaces, high places, and near electrical equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
Education Requirements Associates degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field.
