As a rule, this position works under limited supervision, and is expected to make all decisions necessary to perform custodial related work on the installation. This is maintenance and personal services work involving the custodial care of public or institutional buildings and premises. Duties include cleaning and performing minor maintenance work in Maine Air National Guard Base buildings. Work is performed under general supervision.Primary responsibilities include:
- Knowledge of materials, methods and equipment used in janitorial work
- Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions
- Ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to cleaning equipment
- Ability to climb ladders to change light bulbs, and clean overhead ventilation ducts.
- Sufficient physical strength to perform a variety of routine manual tasks in the care, cleaning and limited maintenance of buildings and equipment
- Ability to use or be trained to operate on military computer systems for time card data input based on work order needs.
Minimum qualifications:Experience and training which demonstrates a basic knowledge of building and grounds maintenance and repair.Preference will be given to those applicants:Must be able to follow instructions; operate manual and automatic custodial equipment; adhere to safety rules; adapt quickly to diverse work assignments; work harmoniously in a team environment; climb ladders, lift 40 lbs unassisted and follow a work schedule.
