Duties and Responsibilities: The Building Engineer at WHIN reports directly to the Director of Operations and is responsible for ensuring effective and efficient day-to-day building operations. Key responsibilities include:
- Facilities Maintenance:
- Serve as the primary on-call responder for emergency facility issues, available 24/7 via phone, email, and in person when necessary.
- Provide data for any needed facilities related reports including but not limited to, inspection report, sustainability reports, etc...
- Maintain immaculate and detailed administrative records, floor plans and permits.
- Perform routine general maintenance and non-technical repairs to buildings, fixtures, walls, floors, equipment and furniture as assigned.
- Participate in other assigned activities such as moving and arranging furniture, cleaning and restoring campus facilities during vacation periods and delivering materials to locations.
- Coordinate preventative, routine and reactive repair maintenance of all building systems
- Building Compliance:
- Maintain up-to-date building documentation and certifications
- Vendor Relations:
- Manage relationships with facilities vendors
- Create and maintain a reliable, vetted and current vendor list for every trade and building need.
Qualifications for the Building Engineer :
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience as an effective building manager, preferably in a school setting.
- Familiarity with key building systems such as boiler, electrical, plumbing, and security.
- Comfort utilizing technology to communicate, track and organize work and information (e.g. Google Suite, documents, spreadsheets).Strong time and task management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple obligations.
- Systems-thinking problem solving approach

- Pride in providing a clean and safe environment for students and staff
Requirements:
- Within 6 weeks of hire, obtain and maintain:
- S-95 and S-97 Certificate of Fitness for Supervision of Fire Alarm Systems
- F-07 and D-10 Fire Drill Conductor
- S-13 Citywide Standpipe Systems
- S-12 Citywide Sprinkler Systems
- Ability to lift items weighing up to 75lbs.
Compensation & Benefits: Salary $90,000-110,000.
