Job Title: Building Engineer Supervisor Job Title: Director of Facility Operations Employment Status: Full-time; 12 month FLSA Status: Hourly The management services offered to our family of charter schools, allows us to collectively become a change agent and national leader in urban education as evidenced by student awareness of self, high academic achievement, positive school culture and community transformation wherever we serve. Essential Functions The Building Engineer will perform preventive and routine maintenance and repairs on building and systems; including but not limited to plumbing, HVAC, carpentry and general building repairs, moving furniture, equipment, life safety and associated system and other duties as assigned. The Building Engineer will work closely with the Director of Facility Operations to ensure reliable operations of building system, physical appearance and security of Universal facilities. Responsibilities:
- Provide maintenance upkeep of school building on a daily basis.
- Perform routine maintenance or repair on building and systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, general building repairs, life safety and associates systems.
- Execute emergency procedures on building systems and sub-systems.
- Perform trash removal as needed.
- Specific physical demands include lifting equipment tools and supplies, climbing ladders to replace ceiling tiles or lights as needed.
- Ensure that equipment is operating within parameters and at maximum efficiencies.
- Maintain equipment logs, records, operational data and history.
- Order equipment and supplies as needed for the maintenance of the school building.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma and/ or Vocational Trade Certificate Program
- 3-5 years of experience in facility maintenance related to HVAC, Electric, Plumbing and/ or Carpentry (certification preferred)
- Must have Building Certification and EPA Universal HVAC License
- Ability to read and interpret building plans and blue prints
- Maintain Building exterior and curb (ie, Lawn care, trash removal, snow removal)
- Excellent verbal, written and communication skills
- Must be effective in working independently with little or no supervision
- Strong organization skills and proficient in establishing priorities
- Experience working on complex equipment component, computer systems and blueprints
- Ability to communicate and cooperatively work with diverse group of people
- Valid Driver license
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Must be able to pass background check
- Experience and/ or interest in working in an urban school environment
