Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Building Environmental Services ( BES ) Technician performs custodial services
support for the University. Duties include, but are not limited to:
+ Clean and care for academic buildings, offices, studios, and other State buildings.
+ Maintain equipment, return to designated storage areas, and keep in good working order.
+ Compile and maintain checklists and report needs to the BES Supervisor.
+ Assist the BES Supervisor in testing and making recommendations on supply and equipment purchases.
+ Maintain various types of floor surfaces to include vacuuming, spotting, and gum removal.
+ Follow established Facilities Management, UNC Charlotte, and State policies and Procedures.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
+ High school diploma or GED equivalent.
+ Work experience in institutional housekeeping and the ability to operate specialized
cleaning equipment.
+ Ability to perform medium to heavy physical work.
+ Must have good organizational, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
+ Ability to properly use and care for all manual and power equipment and chemicals required in Building Environmental Services and floor care functions.
+ Ability to effectively communicate the English language (read, write, comprehend, and speak) required.
+ Effective skills in verbal, written, and interpersonal communication in English, however, excellent communication skills are preferred.
+ Computer literate, knowledge and skill with Google Chrome and Microsoft Word, and willingness to learn new programs required.
+ Ability to effectively work/interact with persons from different backgrounds.
+ Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork with coworkers, visitors, building occupants, and the entire campus community.
