**Overview**The Facilities & Infrastructure Operations Division is responsible for plant engineering, plant energy and utility operations, and facility operations for the South campus and leased facilities, North Campus and Infrastructure Operations, the Physical Science facility, and the 300 Area. In addition, the Division oversees campus infrastructure such as fabrication and craft services, duplicating and mail services, relocations, receiving, distributed services, and maintains operations of roads, grounds, and utilities for the campus.**Responsibilities**Plans, designs and oversees the reconfiguration, maintenance, operation and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, structures, and other laboratory facilities. Gathers and reviews data concerning facility or equipment specifications, company or other regulatory requirements, expected completion date, and construction feasibility. Coordinates with internal and external architecture/engineering organizations in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings. Reviews and approves bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisitions. Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs. Inspects or directs the inspection of construction and project progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules. Defines options or approaches for system, processes, facility or program improvements in terms of safety, performance, facility efficiency or operating costs. Responsible for facility preventive maintenance program requirements and implementation to ensure facilities systems and component reliability. Determine requirements for facility spare parts inventories in support of facility capabilities. Supports development of annual and out year facility operation and maintenance budgets. Responsible for efficient operation of facility systems to meet environmental, safety and occupant mission needs. Specifies requirements for procurement of replacement equipment and performance. Responds to facility upset conditions and events that impact the facility. Integrates Facility sustainability operational considerations in support of DOE and Laboratory goals.+ The Building Engineer position is responsible for activities in support of an assigned Core Team under the guidance of the North Facility Engineering & Maintenance Manager.+ The Building Engineer is the subject matter expert for their assigned buildings and systems responsible for design modifications, providing system diagnostics, system operation oversight, lock-out/tag-out, surveillance/testing, condition assessment surveys, acceptance testing, work planning, outage planning and configuration management.+ Responsible for facility preventive maintenance program requirements and implementation to ensure facilities systems and component reliability.+ Determine requirements for facility spare parts inventories in support of facility capabilities. Integrates Facility sustainability operational considerations in support of DOE and Laboratory goals.+ This position is assigned on-call duties.**Qualifications**Minimum Qualifications:+ BS/BA and 7+ years of relevant work experience -OR-+ MS/MA and 5+ years of relevant work experiencePreferred Qualifications:+ Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with facilities/building engineering experience.+ Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Washington.+ Registration as a Washington State Certified Waterworks Operator.+ Certification as a Reliability Engineer.+ Knowledge with the use of the following software: Maximo, AutoCAD, REVIT, JCI Metasys.**Hazardous Working Conditions/Environment**Not Applicable.**Additional Information**This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance.Requirements:+ U.S. Citizenship+ Background Investigation: Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter in accordance with 10 CFR 710, Appendix B.+ Drug Testing: All Security Clearance positions are Testing Designated Positions, which means that the candidate selected is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.
