- Performing all outdoor routine grounds maintenance, landscaping maintenance, outdoor debris cleanup, and simple repairs as directed by supervisor.
- Performing general housekeeping and custodial cleaning services of DNR facilities during the grounds keeping off-season. Including:
- cleaning and dusting furniture, walls, windows and equipment.
- cleaning restrooms and keeping them well supplied.
- Keeping closets well stocked with appropriate supplies.
- Emptying office trash cans as appropriate.
- Consolidating indoor trash and recyclables into larger containers and ensuring that trash and recycling containers are placed for pickup days.
Performing outdoor debris cleanup and removal including special grounds cleanup measures alongside other Facilities staff related to extreme weather eventsSetting up, tearing down, and cleaning up for DNR-related meetings, conferences, open house, and other functions that use DNR meeting rooms and facilities. (Including setup and tear down of tables and chairs, area preparation, trash disposal, etc.)Communicating well with other Facilities personnel, supervisor, and DNR staff (clients) to stay informed about ongoing events and changing facilities needs.Observing for deficiencies in building and grounds conditions and takes initiative to report and resolve such issues in conjunction with other Facilities staff.Maintaining all issued Department equipment.- Ensuring that all grounds-keeping tools and equipment are properly cleaned, stored, and maintained in working order.
- Ensuring that all custodial and floor maintenance equipment is properly cleaned, stored, and maintained appropriately.
Minimum and Additional RequirementsA high school diploma and two (2) years of experience in building and grounds maintenance.Preferred QualificationsThis employee should have knowledge of how to properly carry out custodial or grounds keeping tasks. Knowledge of custodial or grounds keeping standards and requirements. Knowledge of safety practices relevant to the area of employment. Skilled in the use of cleaning or landscaping tools and equipment. Ability to keep accurate written records. Operational knowledge of all custodial and grounds keeping equipment including but not limited to: lawn mowers (riding and push), weed eaters, edgers, leaf blowers, chain saws, limb pruners, vacuums, buffers, carpet cleaners and gas/electric carts. Must be able to complete minor repairs and maintenance duties to include but not limited to prepping, sanding, painting and light carpentry duties.
