Appraisal can be based on any combination of the following: Investigation, oral exam and rating of the application. Should an oral exam be necessary, the oral exam will be weighted 100%.Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.This position works within the department of Public Works. For more information about the department, please view their website Minimum Qualifications/Employment Standards:High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent, AND six years of journey level experience in the area of assignment; OR, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to obtain the knowledge and skill to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:Possession and maintenance of a valid certification is required in at least one area of specialty, dependent upon assignment ( Residential Inspector disciplines are not acceptable):International Code Council (ICC):
  • Commercial Plumbing Inspector
  • Commercial Mechanical Inspector
  • Commercial Electrical Inspector
  • Commercial Energy Plans Examiner and/or Inspector
  • Accessibility Inspector/Plans Examiner**
**An individual hired to perform the duties of a Certified Access Specialist (CASp) must obtain the Certified Access Specialist program (CASp) certification within 12 months of employment.California Department of General Services, Division of the State Architect:
