Job Type Full-timeDescriptionMidwest Web Printing & Direct MailEntry Level Building Maintenance Assistant Job DescriptionJob Title: Entry Level Building Maintenance AssistantDepartment: MaintenanceReports To: VP of OperationsSummary The Building Maintenance Assistant is an entry-level maintenance position that will be responsible for learning and performing a variety of duties to ensure the proper upkeep and maintenance of our facilities and equipment. This includes general maintenance and repairs for all production equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, time management and organization skills and the willingness to learn and understand building maintenance procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any building or production equipment-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Performs general building and production equipment repairs that do not require a specialized technician.
  • Performs routine maintenance on building systems and conducts routine inspections to identify maintenance issues and repairs needed.
  • Coordinates with vendors and contractors for more complex repairs and projects.
  • Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.
  • Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.
  • Performs any changes or repairs to office furniture or cubicles.
  • Conducts general safety inspections of all fire extinguishers, emergency lighting and eyewash stations.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Abilities:
  • Some knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC and general maintenance.
  • Some knowledge of general carpentry and repair.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
  • Certification to operate Aerial/Scissor Lift. Certification proved after employment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
Education and/or Experience:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 1 year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands:
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration and medium noise level.
Salary Description Starting at $18.00 per hour
