DescriptionAre you a looking to use your skills to improve the quality of people's lives? Consider joining Lutheran Social Services' Housing team as a Building Maintenance Technician. This role supports our HUD apartment buildings, office locations, and LSS program sites throughout the Milwaukee Area. This is a full-time, benefit eligible position with hours M - TH with rotating on call.
The Maintenance Technician maintains the physical assets of the properties. Under supervision, performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance functions , monitors to assure safe working conditions, performs repairs, documents work completed and makes purchases.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or GED equivalent preferred. Two (2) years of work experience involving general repairs and maintenance to building and grounds is preferred, to include: * Considerable knowledge of building maintenance, housekeeping, and security. * Considerable knowledge of the materials, equipment, tools, and methods used in cleaning and maintaining buildings. * Considerable knowledge of electricity, heating, plumbing, air conditioning, and carpentry. * Ability to understand and apply federal, state, and local laws and regulations. * Ability to establish and maintain effective public and working relationships. * Ability to operate and maintain a variety of equipment. * Ability to perform heavy manual labor. * Ability to read and understand blueprints.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must have a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation to perform the essential duties of the role; a motor vehicle check (MVR) with a satisfactory driving record per the LSS Driver Safety Procedure is required, and ability to meet LSS auto insurance requirements.

Will enter client's dwellings or programs and be exposed to smoke and common household allergens such as dust, mildew and pets. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. TRAVEL: Ability to travel on day trips as required. Some overnight travel may be required.
