Job Title: Building Supervisor, Recreation Center
Department: Pear (physical Education, Athletics, and Recreation)
Classification: Non - Exempt
FTE/Working Schedule: Part-time (12-18 hours per week)
Position Overview:This position provides building and front desk coverage necessary for facilities that promote physical activity. The Building Monitor ensures a safe, open, inclusive environment for all users and activity areas. Monitors a variety of user groups; recreationalists, physical education, athletics, and special events. The Building Monitor reports to the Director, Campus Recreation & Recreation Center Manager.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities: - Responsible for daily opening and closing procedures of the facility.
- Ensure that the hourly safety checks and cleaning responsibilities are completed.
- Adequately monitor all activity areas and ensure safety of all users.
- Interact daily with custodial, laundry, recreational, physical education, athletic, and special events staff to ensure work is performed adequately.
- Assist with building set ups, as needed (i.e. fieldhouse courts for athletic, intramural, club and recreation activities.
- Greet visitors/users and answer telephone inquiries. Monitor equipment checkout and daily user check-in procedures. Monitor and provide information to Recreation Center users by providing directions and facility details.
- Supervise student workers at the front counter and in the fitness center.
- Maintain current certifications in CPR, First Aid, and (AED) Emergency Defibulator in order to be the first to arrive at the scene of an emergency and make the initial determination.
- Maintain a safe environment by implementing emergency evacuation and medical procedures when necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience/Skills: Required:
- We seek individuals able to work morning, evening, and weekend shifts.
- Must be reliable, committed, and willing to work, as well as present a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Strong interpersonal skills to allow positive interaction with visitors, students, faculty, and staff.
- Some knowledge of risk management and facility security (events, game management and crowd control).
- Strong organizational skills (computer data management, ability to handle multiple requests/reservations).
- Basic computer skills required.
- Must be able to adhere to oral and written instructions and policies and procedures.
- Physically able to move/lift equipment weighing up to 45 pounds and ability to stand for longer periods of time.
- An appreciation for recreational opportunities that encourage the development of healthy lifestyles and the total well being to every individual is a must.
- Current certifications or ability to obtain First Aid, CPR and (AED) Emergency Defibulation certifications within two months of hire.
Preferred:
- Two years of related work within a recreational/sport facility or program or customer service environment.
- Understanding of and appreciation for a liberal arts college environment.
- Knowledge of recreation/sports and related equipment.
Physical Requirements:Must have the ability to understand and follow written and oral work instructions, operations, safety procedures, and hazardous labels.
