Department Summary The Facilities Management team's mission is to make The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth a place where the facilities and grounds are aesthetically pleasing, clean, well maintained, energy efficient and appropriate to support the institutional Mission and Vision. We are dedicated to providing services to the Health Science Center by maintaining an environment that is conducive to learning, teaching, and research. Position Overview Perform routine inspection, maintenance and repairs to building mechanical systems, i.e. pumps, valves, HVAC systems and related equipment. i.e. air handling units, filters, cooling towers. Startup/shut down major building equipment. i.e. Chillers, Pumps, Cooling Towers. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Experience with HVAC central plant systems, equipment safety devices, basic electrical knowledge, and repair, starting up, and commissioning HVAC systems. Handson experience with setting up and troubleshooting mechanical equipment is required, including pumps, motors, fans, chillers, boilers, air compressors and testing safety devices. Typical repairs include large central plant systems with condensing boilers, large pump stations, chillers and refrigerant monitoring systems, office fit out with VAV boxes, air handler retrofits, roof top unit replacement, fan coil units and heat pumps. Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Preferred Qualifications The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: Electrical troubleshooting skills. Experience in the operation and repair of boilers, chillers, air handlers, pumps and life safety systems. Good computer skills with experience controlling Building Automation Systems. Ability to work any shift. Required License/Registration/Certifications - None Job Duties:
- Perform routine inspection, maintenance and repairs to building mechanical systems, i.e. pumps, valves etc.
- Perform routine inspection, maintenance and repairs to HVAC systems and related equipment. i.e. air handling units, filters, cooling towers.
- Maintain comfort levels in a building environment through the computerized building automation system.
- Startup/shut down major building equipment. i.e. Chillers, Pumps, Cooling Towers.
- Perform minor plumbing and general building maintenance duties as required.
- Employee may perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the Department.
