Job Description:

We are seeking a highly experienced and accomplished prosecutor for a Bureau Chief position in our Public Corruption Bureau.

The Public Corruption Bureau investigates and prosecutes crimes committed by public servants and other public officials. It also investigates allegations against civilians who attempt to subvert the integrity of public servants by offering bribes.

The bureau investigates complaints from the public and works together with the New York City Police Department's Internal Affairs Bureau, the State Grievance Committees, Appellate Division, the City Department of Investigation, and a host of other agencies on a state and federal level to safeguard the public from corruption allegations.

The Public Corruption Bureau investigates allegations of:
  • Criminal acts committed by police officers and law enforcement
  • Use of excessive force by police officers and law enforcement
  • Wrongdoing by licensed attorneys
  • Unauthorized practice of law
  • Election fraud
  • Perjury
  • Qualifications:

    Candidates should have extensive experience investigating and trying complex and challenging cases and have a record of successfully negotiating and dealing with the glare and pressure of intense media scrutiny. Interested applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the New York State bar in good standing, and have at least 12 years post-J.D. experience. Applicants must also have:

  • Extensive experience in handling all aspects of criminal investigation and prosecution.
  • White-Collar experience.
  • Knowledge of the New York Rules of Professional Conduct for Attorneys.
  • Substantial felony jury trial experience.
  • Prior experience managing junior attorneys.
  • Experience in handling cybercrimes preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Among the areas of expertise required:
  • Familiarity with all aspects of New York Police Department practice and procedures.
  • Grand Jury practice.
  • Experience with handling referrals from NYPD/IAB and NYC Department of Investigations.
  • Applying the New York Rules of Professional Conduct for Attorneys.
  • Salary: $202,731.00.

    This position will require the ability to manage a staff of senior assistants, including paralegals and detectives, and to be always accessible to the District Attorney, Chief Assistant, and Executive of the Investigations Division.
