Job Description:
Primary focus is to operate the burning table/laser cutting machines (either or both) to produce parts to be used in the fabrication and assembly of equipment. Secondary functions include, but are not limited to, operation of other equipment as needed and performing light maintenance on the burningtable/laser cutter.Essential Functions/Key Accountabilities:
  • Follow direction provided by department supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to, and enforcing, all safety procedures and policies inside and outside the facility, including use of personal protective and McLanahan equipment as required.
  • Represent McLanahan Corporation in a positive manner both internally and externally while adhering to the organization's core values.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, management, customers, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Load/Unload material to/from the burning table, plasma cutting table, and laser machine as needed.
  • Ability to unload trucks from vendors.
  • Operate overhead crane to move material.
  • Cut scrap material as needed.
  • Program machines to cut material as required.
  • Maintain a clean work area utilizing 5S principles and daily organizational skills.
  • Produce material within prescribed standards for both quality and timeliness.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Experience working in a team environment and communicating between shifts.
  • Ability to complete cross training on other equipment and procedures throughout the department as determined by management.
  • Familiar with thermal torch and plasma torch operations and the applications with metal up to 3 inches in thickness.
  • Familiar with acetylene torch techniques to cut materials as required.
  • Able to identify steel plates, beams, channel, angle, and round and flat stock.
Education/Qualifications/Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED) or other sufficient training/experience.
  • Prior experience reading and understanding blue prints to build a product.
  • Two (2) - four (4) years of similar experience in a heavy manufacturing environment and operating a burn table/laser cutting machine.
  • Prior experience using hand tools to measure products.
  • Prior experience operating an overhead craned and safety rigging materials.
