Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL), as well as a Georgia Class B CDL with Passenger Endorsement.Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position. Must have geographical knowledge of Metropolitan Atlanta streets, cities, andcommunities and the ability to read maps.Examination:The examination will consist of an evaluation of education and experience, accomplished by analysis of the application. Purpose of Classification:The purpose of this classification is to operate small buses and/or vans to transport Fulton County citizens and employees safely to and from destinations throughout the County.Essential Functions:The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.Drives buses and vans to transport Fulton County citizens and employees safely to and from destinations: reviews the daily manifest and route prior to departure; maneuvers in and around traffic; obeys all traffic laws and safety guidelines; and adjusts route as needed to navigate through traffic and provide for a more efficient route.Provides assistance to passengers as needed: provides directions and information to customers; monitors passengers and vehicle to ensure their safety and comfort; assists passengers in boarding and departing vehicles as required; operates lift for passengers using wheelchairs; secures passengers' wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during trips as required.Prepares vehicle for daily operations: fuels vehicle; makes minor repairs or adjustments to vehicle, including checking fluid levels, air level in tires, etc.; inspects vehicle before and after each trip; maintains cleanliness of vehicle by washing, vacuuming, and picking up trash regularly.Maintains records of trips: records mileage, pick up times, delays, and the behavior of passengers as required.Communicates with dispatch, supervisor, and other drivers: operates two-way radios or similar devices; relays information pertaining to vehicle maintenance, accidents or incidents, or issues related to customer service; and consults with supervisor and peers regarding schedules, routes, and other emergent concerns.Additional Functions:Performs other related duties as required.Performance Aptitudes: Data Utilization: Requires the ability to determine, calculate, tabulate, or summarize data/information, following a prescribed plan requiring the exercise of some judgment.
