Job Summary The Business Intelligence Analytics Associate is responsible for supporting the analytical functions specific to one of the following business functional areas: Clinical/Hospital Operations, Member Experience, and Quality. They will work with their Manager, Business Owners, Project Managers, and other requesters of data to translate requests into clear and actionable conclusions. This involves many tasks including the facilitation of tasks to understand the objectives of the business owner, retrieval of data, organization of data into information, interpretation of data and its meaning and the conclusion of business directives derived from the analytical activities. Additionally, the associate must manage multiple analytical requests at one time. Specific responsibilities of the associate include but may not be limited to: Oversee analytical and reporting services within his/ her scope of work. Serve as a data Subject Matter Expert (SME) to consult with business owners on the data itself. Support departments and interdisciplinary groups by facilitating the acquisition of data and information needed to drive Regional and operational decision making and process improvements. Actively participate as a project team member. Obtain, analyze, organize, and interpret data into actionable findings, recommendations, and conclusions. Facilitate report production or data process development required to meet business needs. Maintain a broad spectrum of knowledge regarding business processes and the underlying systems and data sources that support these processes. Perform duties with minimal supervision.
Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions - Interprets data analyses by applying findings to contextual settings; and developing insights, reports, and presentations telling a compelling story to stakeholders to enable and influence decision making; and providing context related to data interpretations and/or limitations as appropriate.
- Executes creative data analytic approaches leading to actionable outcomes by defining and calculating metrics to be analyzed; defining, calculating, and validating algorithms; and conducting analyses, including descriptive, correlational, inferential, and/or predictive statistics.
- Develops analytical and/or statistical models enabling informed business decisions by determining data and analytical requirements; creating models leading to actionable insights; and testing, refining, and validating models.
- Gathers data and information on targeted variables in an established systematic fashion by validating data sources, querying, merging, and extracting data across sources; completing routine data refresh and update; developing and/or delivering tools for electronic data collection; and providing user training, support, and documentation.
- Drives strategic data-informed decisions by consulting with clients to identify and clarify key business needs, developing outcomes and process measures, translating business requirements, determining data/information needs and data collection methods, developing analysis plans, measuring the impact of business decisions on clients, customers, and/or members, working with clients and staff to identify opportunities and methods to improve efficiencies with analysis, supporting and training end-users, and documenting processes and deliverables.
- Prepares data for analytic efforts by integrating and consolidating data, ensuring data quality and accuracy, profiling data inaccuracies and recommending process improvements or system changes to enhance overall quality of the data and cleaning and creating final data set(s) for analysis.
- Master complex software packages to perform SQL interface programming as well as relational query writing across data sets. Knowledge of database design within data warehouse as well as other data sources should be applied to improve data processing efficiencies.
- Use various analytical tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, Python and R to develop the right solution to meet customer data needs.
Minimum Education (Indicate minimum education or degree required.)
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Information Systems, Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field.
Preferred Education - Master's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Information Systems, Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field.
Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications - 0-2 years of related work experience (i.e., in a reporting and analytical environment, preferably in healthcare).
- 0-2 years of experience with SQL data manipulation
- 0-2 years of managing analytical requests, creating analytical solutions, establishing analytical standards and metrics, and communicating insights to senior leaders, operational leaders, and other analysts.
- 0-2 years using analytical tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, Python and R to produce actionable insights to answer business questions.
- Understanding of medical terminology including Diagnosis codes and procedure codes.
- Experience translating front end workflows into data requirements. Ability to interpret end user needs into actionable and accurate reports.
- Excellent in critical thinking, analytical, and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work within a team and cross functional teams.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication and effective interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work directly with various levels of leadership and bring high priority projects to a successful result.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
Preferred Work Experience and Qualifications - Epic certification in Clarity or Cogito.
- Knowledge of healthcare industry, especially healthcare Clinical/Hospital Operations, Member Experience, or Quality analytics
