MMG INSURANCE COMPANYJob DescriptionJob Title:Business AnalystDepartment:Product ManagementReports To:Senior Business AnalystFLSA Status:ExemptSUMMARYConsults with business and technical resources to plan, design, develop, and launch efficient business, financial, and operations systems and products in support of core organizational functions and business processes. Relies on insurance and business experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.Works as the primary liaison between business and technical teams to identify, document, and validate business requirements from stakeholders. Able to independently support a development team for the business analyst team.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES•Defines and documents current and future state process.Performs gap analysis to create target architectures for achieving desired future state business processes.•Works with stakeholders to proactively identify opportunities to improve business capabilities and products. •Creates process models, decision models, concept models, systems models, simple prototypes and other business architecture to provide direction to their assigned Development Team(s).•Demonstrates proficiency in most core business analysis techniques.Developing expertise in one or more business analysis techniques including specialized techniques. •Understands and follows business policy set by the business analyst team including business analysis standards, procedures, best practices and tools.•Monitors business analysis key performance indicators for their assigned development team(s).•Conducts peer reviews and suggests best practices to other business analysts.•Communicates decision-making rationale and status of various projects to respective constituency with a need-to-know.•Develops training material on core business analysis capabilities and conducts training for business analysts.•Demonstrates an understanding of business analysis role and practices.•Collaborates in requirements planning and development for the deployment of new products, applications, and enhancements to existing applications.•Assists others in the research and development of company products, monitoring company product performance, and monitoring of competitor actions•Assists others in monitoring Insurance Services Office publications, pending legislation, and regulations to assess impacts of new developments on company insurance products.•Develops materials needed to implement new rates, products, or forms, including the development of revised manuals.•Demonstrates an understanding of and applies effectively the fundamentals of our project management methodologies including Agile, Scrum and Kanban.•Meets with decision makers, systems owners, end users, and their Development Teams to define business, financial, and operations requirements and systems goals.•Communicates process changes, enhancements, and modifications to management, peers, development teams, and other employees to ensure an understanding of issues and solutions.•Demonstrates knowledge of one or more business domains.•Develops and maintains positive Company/vendor relations which may include travel and attendance at various conventions/meetings. (May include overnight stays.)•Serves as a vendor liaison for assigned suppliers of data, products, rates, and pertinent competitor data. •Travels as required to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the employee's position and to fulfill educational requirements.
