The Business Analyst will play a key role in the development of a custom internal system, acting as the bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders. This individual must have an accounting background, with either a bachelor's degree in accounting or extensive hands-on accounting experience. The ideal candidate will ensure the system meets business needs, supports accounting processes, and complies with relevant regulations.Key Responsibilities: 1. Requirements Gathering & Analysis • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document detailed business and technical requirements. • Ensure requirements align with accounting best practices and organizational objectives. • Translate complex accounting workflows into system requirements. 2. System Design & Development Support • Work closely with development teams to ensure the system design aligns with accounting principles and business goals. • Provide expertise in accounting to design workflows, integrations, and reporting features. • Identify opportunities to streamline and automate accounting processes within the system. 3. Testing & Validation • Develop and execute test cases to validate the functionality and accuracy of accounting-related features. • Perform user acceptance testing and ensure system outputs comply with accounting standards. • Identify and resolve discrepancies in system functionality. 4. Stakeholder Communication • Serve as a liaison between technical teams and accounting/business stakeholders. • Facilitate discussions to prioritize requirements and address issues. • Communicate system changes, updates, and impacts effectively to all relevant parties. 5. Documentation & Training • Document workflows, system requirements, and user guides to support the system's adoption. • Train end-users and stakeholders on the new system and provide ongoing support during implementation.Qualifications: • Education: Bachelor's degree (ideally in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or similar) • Experience: • 3-5 years of experience in accounting or a related field. • Proven experience as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or similar role. • Experience with system design, development, or implementation projects. • Skills: • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, processes, and systems. • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. • Proficiency in business process documentation tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart) and project management tools (e.g., Jira, Trello). • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. • Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies is a plus. • Preferred: • Experience with ERP or accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle NetSuite). • Certifications such as Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) or CPA (Certified Public Accountant).Key Attributes: • Detail-oriented and meticulous in analyzing accounting workflows and data. • Team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks and stakeholders. • Proactive in identifying risks, opportunities, and solutions.Interested in hearing more?
