Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role. Description Our Business Analyst will assist the Head of Technical & Underwriting Controls, Americas HOTUC) on the enhancement of the underwriting control framework within GTS's global operations. For as long as the framework is under review from the GTS Global Underwriting Journey (GUJ) programme, the role will also support the GTS Projects & Technical Manager (PTM) on the development of controls and their operation as well as support other GTS management functions develop and maintain controls in other areas. Upon completion of the GUJ, the business analyst will work with the HOTUC & Global Operations Manager (GOM) to operate the enhanced controls. During the period the GUJ is in operation, the Business Analyst role will assist the PTM in adapting the business process and controls of GTS as required by the development of the GUJ. During this time, the Business Analyst will also assist in internal monitoring and use of existing reporting on the business's adherence to the controls, escalating to the HOTUC and GOM as required. Although based in the USA the Business Analyst role will cover all GTS regions and products to establish consistent, global controls across all GTS business. Using existing processes, the role will support the HOTUC & GOM process, monitor and report on underwriting controls established reducing risk and promoting a strong underwriting management controls function in GTS. Our search is for the posted office location, New York City.Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor existing operating underwriting controls (both technical i.e. authority limit and operational i.e. data exception reporting, UW file admin content review) across all GTS regions and classes of business.
  • Support in the provision of high-quality reporting on the adherence of controls in place to relevant forums.
  • Ensure GTS team members respond appropriately to review results that require remediation, escalating to the HATA & GOM where required.
  • Development of an understanding of the GTS and Liberty controls in place (i.e. the Class Underwriting Framework or PBQA checklist) and how GTS can measure performance against the requirements.
  • Maintain an annual calendar of recurring reviews and assist in carrying out timetabled thematic reviews.
  • Work with the HATA & GOM to establish a framework and approach to a review of GTS' Operating Manuals and Guides in response to business process change brought about by the GUJ.
  • Assist the GOM with reviewing underwriter authority exception reporting using relevant in-house Liberty tools
  • Be the primary contact for, and develop an enhanced relationship with, the existing Liberty regional Quality Control Teams.
  • Suggest updates for controls in response to changing areas of priority and interest.
  • Apply knowledge & skills to own work; seek out advice from manager to guide and further professional growth.
  • Apply knowledge & skills to conduct research, analysis, and prepare recommendations, receiving guidance from higher level staff or manager.

Qualifications Demonstrated research, problem solving, analytical, critical thinking, and relationship management skills. Business operations knowledge to include understanding the function's value chain and awareness of market conditions. Solid knowledge of Excel. Developing knowledge of available data sources, strengths and shortcomings. Experience in Audit or Controls environment an advantage. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in addition to 1+ years of relevant experience.
