Kirtland Community College is adding a Business and Industry Relations Coordinator to our team.

The Business and Industry Relations Coordinator will develop business and professional relationships, represent the College on relevant committees and boards, and perform regular business and corporate site visits to promote partnerships and training opportunities. The position is responsible for pre-employment and incumbent worker training programs offered to business, industry, government, and nonprofit agencies; and activities to strengthen Kirtland's relationship with public and private sector employers.

Duties

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

* Foster and strengthen relationships with businesses, economic development agencies, non-profit organizations, labor organizations, K-12s and regional higher education providers.

* Represent the College at economic and workforce development events; and on committees and boards at the local and state levels.

* Promote and oversee the Michigan New Jobs Training Act including oversight and tracking of funded training; and communications and reporting to the State and employer.

* Support the implementation of the Career Coach contract and serve as the primary point of contact for the Work Opportunities Board.

* Manage the Tri-Area Truck Driving School program at Kirtland.

* Administer the development, marketing, delivery, and evaluation of workforce training programs offered in credit and noncredit formats.

* Assist in the recruitment and supervision of full-time and adjunct faculty and vendors for the development, delivery and assessment of customized and workshop format training programs.

* Seek and manage grants that provide opportunities for the college and/or employers.

* Track data and provide reports related to employer engagement activities including revenue generation and services provided.

* Perform other related tasks as directed.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor's degree with an emphasis on Business, Educational Leadership, Public Administration, or related field.

* Three to five years of experience in business or project management, with instructional experience, or combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of the position.

* Broad knowledge of business and manufacturing including manufacturing processes, knowledge of economic development and community enterprise activities, and a general understanding of contracted employee arrangements.

* Ability to conceptualize future trends, opportunities, barriers, and solutions to enable the College's success and growth in continuing education and corporate training.

* Ability to win trust, exert influence, and work effectively with business professionals, community leaders, and citizen advisory groups in the building of community partnerships.

* Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms.

* General understanding of how to use technology as part of the work process.

SUPERVISION- Works under the general supervision of the Dean of Occupational Programs.

ATTENDANCE-This position requires flexibility in work schedule according to the needs of the division programs, prospective clientele and the requirement to work closely with college support and instructional staff. May at times also require evening and/or weekend activity and travel.

WORKING CONDITIONS-This position requires flexibility in work schedule and will at times require evening and/or weekend activity and travel. Conditions may vary from a typical office or classroom environment to those of an industrial fabrication facility, outdoor construction site, hospital or other business entity. Individuals must be able to access varied worksites while observing all OSHA safety standards, be able to facilitate meetings in a variety of settings, and undertake regional travel under occasional late night and/or poor weather conditions.
