The ideal candidate will possess a keen interest in applying economic tools of the office, to select companies or areas in Southern Utah. This role will focus on fostering and developing relationships with local, national, and international businesses looking to expand or relocate to Utah. A qualified candidate will be able to source or receive referrals about companies interested in expansion and present to them key labor data, housing data, unemployment data, and other variables pertinent to Utah's economy. In some select cases, the candidate will determine eligibility to walk them through the incentive process for business expansion. Experience with Salesforce is a plus. Join us in making a meaningful impact on Utah's economic landscape through targeted job creation strategies and initiatives.Principal DutiesWork in a team environment to foster growth with local, national, and international companies that do business in or support Utah's targeted industries, including Advanced Manufacturing, Aerospace and Defense, Financial Services, Life Sciences and Healthcare, Software, and Information Technology.Collect and curate industry knowledge and establish relationships with companies and communities within an assigned area of expertise.Present labor data, housing data, unemployment data, and other relevant economic indicators to businesses interested in expansion and advocate for Utah as a strategic place to do business.Respond to and gather support from communities and locations when the State or partners receive or initiate a Request for Information on opportunities for business expansion.Facilitate and guide companies approved to participate in the Economic Development Tax Increment Financing or Rural Economic Development Tax Increment Financing program.Present and recommend companies for incentives to the Board of Economic Opportunity.Foster and develop relationships with municipalities to support their economic development vision and provide resources available through incentives and grants.Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to understand needs and constraints that shape Utah's ability to perform in the marketplace.Provide written and verbal presentations of information through email, websites, and in-person or online meetings.Skillfully track, maintain, and follow up on multiple projects to completion.Ideal CandidateResident of Southern Utah (preferably in Beaver, Iron, or Washington County).Bachelor's degree in Economics, Accounting, Business, Sales, or related field and at least two years of experience in a relevant field. Master's degree preferred or equivalent relevant work experience.Proven experience presenting information and processes to company leadership.Familiarity with Salesforce is highly desirable.Strong understanding of economic concepts and principles.Excellent problem-solving abilities with a strategic and analytical mindset.Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, capable of conveying complex ideas to diverse audiences.Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.Experience working in government or public sector environments is a plus.The AgencyThe Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity (GOEO) champions Gov.
