Job Description:

Job Type Full-time Description The Business Development Officer (BDO) generates new, profitable financial relationships, focusing on commercial middle market and some commercial real estate segments. The BDO will Identify and acquire new banking relationships including loans, deposits, and cash management. The target market for this role will include credits in the $2-$35MM range if unsecured and $2-$50MM if secured. Target deposits range from $1-$50 million. Essential Functions

  • Builds and maintains an average $10 million pipeline (1-3 prospects) with loan requests comprised of 60% commercial and industrial loans and 40% commercial real estate loans.
  • Meets and/or exceeds loan and production goals as assigned by Senior Management.
  • Develops and validates potential lending customers and direct qualified leads to Commercial Banking and Commercial Real Estate Groups.
  • Partners with Commercial Relationship Managers to prioritize prospects, develop pursuit strategy, create proposals, manage new customer acquisitions, and onboarding process for customers.
  • Establishes expertise within the Bank's geographic market; establishes a network of contacts; and understands the differing credit needs and industry economics.
  • Develops prospects from referral leads and other sources.
  • Screens and interviews credit applicants to determine financial needs; gathers financial and other credit-related information for credit analysis to evaluate.
  • Develops and effectively communicates sales proposals to target customers.
  • Develops and maintains market knowledge of Commercial Banking and Commercial Real Estate products and services.
  • Provides consistent, high-quality and professional service to potential customers.
  • Refers customers requiring specialized products and services to other areas of the Bank as appropriate.
  • Keeps management regularly informed of activities and reports weekly/monthly on business account and loan activity as required.
  • Actively participates and represents the Bank in community organizations and activities to enhance the Bank's image and maintain and enhance a referral network for business development opportunities.
  • Supports Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) through business development efforts.
  • Maintains a current knowledge of bank regulations. Ensures compliance with all Federal, State and Bank policies, procedures, and regulations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) with coursework in marketing, business or finance from an accredited college or equivalent related work experience preferred.
  • Five years proven and progressive related sales, marketing, and relationship management experience.
  • Knowledge of commercial lending practices and lending approval process preferred.
  • Experience direct sourcing and prospecting new clients within the segment.
  • Commercial or Middle Market account relationship management experience.
  • Established network in the local market.
  • Experience growing a business or portfolio of clients.
  • Experience developing partnerships and collaborating with other business and functional areas
  • Experience negotiating interest rates, price, terms, and collateral requirements
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of commercial or specialty group: lending, loan servicing, products, and credit practices
