SUMMARY:
Mortenson is currently seeking a Business Development / Operations professional for our wind group who will be responsible for partnering with business unit market leaders in developing and supporting positioning strategies, market insights and analysis, and customer relationships to win work and achieve business development and marketing objectives. This person will need the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. Excellent written and verbal communications skills are vital, with attention to detail equally important.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage the positioning activities of the business development team
- Participate in strategic business planning, developing strategic positioning plan for company and project pursuits to win work
- Work with marketing team to create and produce internal and external communications, marketing/branding/advertising materials and presentations
- Coordinate prequalification efforts with targeted customers and partners
- Initiate customer feedback on proposals and presentations
- Function as the liaison between business development, pre-construction, operations, and marketing
- Provide insight into market sectors and customers; perform market trends analysis
- Own Salesforce data management and reporting to ensure accuracy and support pipeline oversight and reporting
Establish and nurture strategic business partnerships and customer relationships
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing and potential partners including, but not limited to: targeted customers, design professionals, partner companies, community leaders, utilities, equipment manufacturers, and engineering firms
- Identify new market sector opportunities and potential future customers and convert them to contacts for market sector leaders
- Understand customer's project estimates to facilitate discussion with customers and internal stakeholders
- Support Request for Proposals to align with owner's specifications and identifies risks and opportunities
Play an integral role within the Business Development team
- Take work direction, utilize training, and complete performance reviews
- Use the appropriate level of forethought and planning in decision making to assure successful outcomes
- Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
- Lead internal meetings, take minutes, follow-up on action items
- Build cross-department relationships to drive company and customer outcomes
- Lead internal / external event planning and execution
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum five (5) years prior industry-related business development experience. Renewable industry experience is preferred
- Proven customer relationship building skills, with developed local/regional business knowledge and relationships
- Proven knowledge and execution of successful marketing strategies
- Technical writing skills
- Detail orientation sufficient for data entry, reporting, financial projections for sales and selections, and market analysis
- Microsoft Office, project, and pertinent CRM web application skills, including Salesforce
- Proven positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills
- Ability to travel up to 30%
- Current driver's license
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field
