About the Company:Our client is a rapidly growing electrical manufacturing organization who are looking to add a Business Development Specialist to their team. The company has enjoyed incredible success in the last few years' and are seeking a candidate with a similar background to join their team as they continue their expansion.The successful candidate would have experience calling on OEM's, have a minimum of five years' experience in a similar role, and experience of selling in the electric car market or plastics would be a big plus.The position is remote with quarterly meetings in Chicago and 30% - 50% of travel within the role.

Position Summary:

The Business Development specialist will report to the Business Operations Manager and will be responsible for identifying, qualifying, and ensuring resource alignment for successful execution of new opportunities that fit our strategic focus and capabilities. The individual will be expected to play a key role in developing profitable new programs with key customers and drive the product category strategy into targeted accounts. The successful Business Development Specialist will meet with customers, assess and analyze their application needs, understand pain points, drive development of differentiated solutions, and work with the team to profitably grow revenue.

Essential Functions:

  • Execute and deliver on product segment sales objectives based on the Annual Plan and Long-Range Plans.
  • Conduct market and end user research. Drive the analysis, conclusions and strategic direction of market research findings, particularly in terms of end-user segmentation, development of pricing and positioning, and to identify trends and opportunities for innovation.
  • Implement 8020 FTB market segment strategies that deliver increased efficiencies, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead Customer Back innovation teams through effective project selection, customer interviews/ ethnography, needs analysis, and ideation.
  • Develop customer-specific product, marketing and sales strategies.
  • Conduct competitive analysis and understand the competition's business model and develop product benchmarks.
  • Develop a product strategy identifying areas for innovation, cost reduction, and obsolescence for the Region.
  • Develop short and long-term outlooks and forecasts.
  • Must be able to foster, communicate and exemplify the values of the company; act with integrity and trust, operate with simplicity, treat everyone with respect, take shared risk.
  • Adapt and flourish in the shifting environment and circumstances of a new and growing business.
  • Network effectively both inside and outside the organization.
  • Establish and maintain strong business relationship with key customers and internal management and customer teams.

Position Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • Demonstrated understanding of financials including working knowledge of budgeting, sales, and capital funding for growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research, identify strategic opportunities, and develop sound business strategy to convert on those opportunities.
  • Experience with long term planning as well as a creative and visionary aptitude is a plus.
  • Ability to work directly, and through teammates, to implement key strategies.
  • Strong business analytical skills are a must and some product and or market management experiences, (EV/battery a plus).
  • Product development experience is required
  • Polymer Science and/or electrical engineering and/or technical experience is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree is required or equivalent experience, including supervisory experience.
  • Graduate/Advanced Degree preferred
  • Familiarity of UL 94, ASTM, IATL-16949, DIN Standards, ISO-9000, REACH & RoHS
  • Proficient computer skills - MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with experience in communicating and working with a remote team.
  • Proven time management, prioritization abilities and demonstrated strong project management skills.
  • Must possess decision making skills necessary to flourish in an ambiguous environment.

  • Must be able to travel domestic and international, at times more than 50%.
  • Takes initiative; able to function independently and make independent decisions.
  • Proven thought leadership capabilities, innovative thinking skill set and the ability to drive change.
