Job Description:
MSIG North America continues to grow! The Domain Architect will be providing strategy and solution guidance and expertise to the programs and projects supporting Underwriting business domain, while paying attention to how these initiatives interact with those of other areas of the business. The Domain lead will also oversee the delivery of new operational capabilities for business functions within the underwriting business domain to ensure the proposed value of the capability is achieved.Essential Functions:
  • Understand the current state across all legal entities and the future growth prospects to capture critical views of the full enterprise required to define business operation patterns and capability maps.
  • Create and maintain a business architecture strategy that incorporates multiple business scenarios and potential focus areas that can be used to inform multi-year capability roadmaps across IT, digital, data and business teams.
  • Capture and refine business goals and key objectives to develop and map key results and metrics to tactical and strategic initiatives
  • Develop value stream playbooks for large functions that entail strategy, planning and execution of projects at scale.
  • Develop financials models and execution roadmap, accounting for all moving parts in the organization for new and enhanced business functions and capabilities.
  • Understand the current operating models and relationships (functions, roles, capabilities, processes, data) within and between business units
  • Develop actionable design, patterns and strategy documents in partnership with business and IT stakeholders.
  • Evaluate existing processes using interviews, workshops, document analysis, surveys, user scenarios, process maps, task and workflow analysis.
  • Analyze data for trends and recommend possible improvements/solutions.
  • Perform competitive analysis to understand opportunities within the marketplace and advise business stakeholders and strategy teams on potential areas of investment
  • Identify strengths and areas for process improvement, establishing links between business strategies and improvement initiatives.
  • Identify key requirements needed from cross-functional teams and external vendors.
  • Provide leadership and expertise throughout the design and improvement of processes and operating models.
  • Meet with business and technical leaders to identify and scope opportunities, outline potential value and ROI, and identify risks and constraints.
  • Act as mentor or coach to business stakeholders by providing training and guidance.
  • Work closely with product management and product owners (IT, digital, and data); direct the work of cross-functional teams; and collaborate with assigned solution architects and project managers to plan and develop scope, deliverables, required resources, work plan, and timing for new initiatives.
  • Participate and provide guidance in project execution and process improvement projects and ensure solutions are achieved on time, on budget and within scope with the expected value to the business.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, information system, systems analysis or related field preferred.
  • Prefer 10+ years of experience in underwriting; documenting and defining value streams, business capabilities, master data, personas, applications, and key data flows.
  • Prefer 6+ years of experience in business analyst, business architecture, or solution architecture roles for property and casualty insurance or a similar domain.
  • Strong knowledge of business process modeling, workflow automation, integration patterns, and data transformation techniques.
  • Strong technical skills around vendor product selection, software and technology analysis, business analytics, and convergence of cross-business functions.
  • Prefer Expertise in one or more of the TOGAF (or equivalent framework) architectural domains in business, application, data, technology.
  • Experience in architectural support of Agile delivery framework and digital product lifecycle.
  • Experience using various tools and techniques (e.g. UML) for modeling business processes
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
