Business Intelligence Analyst, PSS2Department: Business Intelligence/Analytics, Systems & Applications, within the division of Information Resources & TechnologyPosition DescriptionThe Business Intelligence Analyst will work with the functional areas across the University,including but not limited to Finance, to assist with eliciting requirements for thecreation/development of new solutions, integrations, and reports; make changes to existingsolutions, integrations, and reports; and, help diagnose and resolve issues. In this role, thebusiness intelligence analyst will develop extensive knowledge of Rowan University'sapplications, systems of records, and database.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain understanding of internal customer requirements, workflows anddepartmental business support needs.Deliver precise functional specifications to include functional requirements, hierarchy,workflow, business rules, interface design and definitions, outstanding issues, dataanalysis, and data mapping to clients and development staff.Gather comprehensive business requirements and use cases and recommendappropriate solutions.Evaluate business processes, gather requirements, help establish and documentspecifications for development.Work with the Technical team to develop high level labor estimates to develop anddeploy functionality.Conduct gap analysis between application and stated customer requirements andcollaborate with Developers to estimate project impact.Work with Development, QA, and Production Support teams to communicate, verify, andtest the desired functionality changes.Provide general technical support for various administrative applications throughoutcampus, including travel software, procure-to-pay software, and student advisingsoftware.Work with the clients to demonstrate the changes to the system to ensure all relevantbusiness needs are addressed.Act as an interface with IRT to communicate and advocate for longer termimprovements, and ensure that technical solutions are aligned with Rowan's technologydirection.Manage multiple competing priorities through effective organization and communication.Guide clients through the System/Software, Development, Life Cycle and IT AcquisitionProcess.Process monitoring, analysis, and improvement (i.e. Appman processes)RequiredBachelor's Degree or higher in a business or technology-related field or relevant workexperienceUnderstanding of business analysis principles, processes, and techniques.Three (3) years of professional experience (SQL, Query, basic table joins, aggregatefunctions, data mapping, rollback, etc.)Ability to develop and prepare use cases, functional specifications, and technicalrequirements.Ability to understand and represent the needs of the end user in a softwaredevelopment environment.Strong consultative and advisory skills.Strong technology, analytical, and communication skills (written and verbal).Proficient in standard query tools such as SQL.Knowledge of databases, database relationships, interfaces, and integration techniquesPreferred qualificationsExperience with reporting on Higher Education, Financial, HR, or Payroll data; or,Medical systems.Experience with API's.NotesRowan University is an Equal Opportunity Employer and values diverse people and abilities.
