What You Will Do: This position will sit in our Roseland, NJ or New York, NY and currently offers a hybrid remote work opportunity. The Business Intelligence Specialist is a strategic thinker who conducts specialized research and analysis of clients, prospects, industries, markets, and competitors and synthesizes actionable intelligence and SWOT analyses into professional customized reports. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to interface effectively with management, partners, practices, and the firm's Business Development professionals. Other important activities include outreach to practice areas and marketing, development of services and resources, and use of technology to improve services and operations. Collaboration and teamwork are essential, as is the ability to work independently. Essential Job Requirements:
  • Research, analyze, and disseminate company, industry and competitor data for client meetings, pitches, RFPs, client and business development, attorney articles, partner retreats, administrative departments and the firm's intranet.
  • Analyze findings in terms of business development, convey them succinctly, and recommend actions.
  • Identify and capitalize on the appropriate resources-fee based and free, online databases, web sites and print resources.
  • Identify trends and recommend activities to capitalize on them.
  • Proactively monitor clients, competitor firms, client's competitors and industries, and economic, political and regulatory events using appropriate sources.
  • Forecast potential legal developments and business opportunities for current and potential clients.
  • Synthesize information and facts to provide brief and detailed company reports, SWOT analyses, industry overviews, biographical summaries, and analysis of key transactions, industry trends, litigation and outside counsel.
  • Utilize the Quest request management system to manage business intelligence research workflow and track research time.
  • Coordinate with Research Librarians as needed to manage projects, requests, and deadlines.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
  • M.L.S. or equivalent, with two to four years legal and business research experience or related experience, preferably in a large law firm or professional services firm.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Experience researching across a broad range of industries, including legal.
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to synthesize relevant information from a variety of sources and translate complex information into an easy-to-understand report.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Interpersonal communication skills necessary to maintain effective relationships with attorneys, clients, and coworkers.
  • Outstanding attention to detail.
  • Creativity, flexibility, persistence, motivation, energy, and the ability to work with little supervision and collaborate with the team.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal research requestors through activities such as clarifying needs and purpose, meeting deadlines, providing status updates, setting expectations, and follow through.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and web-based research sources.
Office Location: Roseland, NJ or New York, NY Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (NJ) or 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM (NY) Amount of Travel Required: 0% For candidates meeting the requirements, the expected base salary is $110k to $120k. The range provided is the salary that Lowenstein Sandler in good faith believes at the time of this posting that it is willing to pay for the advertised position. Exact compensation will be determined based on individual candidate qualifications and location.
