Job Summary Job Description This position exists to support student learning and success by providing management and supervision of the Rochester Community and Technical College's business office and bookstore staff. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: direct, supervise and maintain the college's fiscal operations, including budget planning, financial reporting, accounting processes and procedures, internal control activities, accounts receivable and payable, purchasing, payroll, mailroom and central stores, coordination with the Foundation for all scholarships and supervision of staff according to and in compliance with Minnesota State system, State of Minnesota, and federal policies and procedures. Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance or a directly related field
  • Minimum of five years of directly related experience with five years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong interpersonal land communication skills (both oral and written), including the ability to present financial data and to develop complex proposals and reports
  • Evidence of experience dealing with senior leadership and staff in a diversified and political environment
  • Highly developed analytical, technical and problem solving skills
  • Strong computer skills including the ability to analyze data using appropriate software tools (database programs and queries, spreadsheets, etc.)
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills and the ability to plan and follow through on all aspects of the position responsibilities
  • Ability to think conceptually, to engage in continual environmental scanning and relate disparate events to an impact on the institution
  • Demonstrated success at overseeing sound budgetary and fiscal planning processes, including identification of innovative strategies that utilize resources to the fullest
  • Demonstrated success at adapting to changes in the work environment including implementation of new technology needed to streamline processes
  • Ability to interpret statistical and fiscal data, project fiscal implications and translate them into administrative policy
  • Demonstrated extensive knowledge in the following areas:
    • Generally accepted accounting principles and practices, especially GASB
    • Auditing and budgeting principles and practices
    • Financial planning and business administration
    • Financial statement preparation
Preferred Qualification
  • Financial management experience in higher education
  • Evidence of budget development, analysis and reporting in the public/government sector
  • Master's Degree in business Administration OR Master's Degree with CPA, CAMA, CUIA or CGFM accreditation
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Minnesota State ISRS system, State of Minnesota SWIFT system
  • Understanding of quality control management to identify improvements and develop strategies to minimize errors
  • Evidence of being an accessible and approachable leader with responsive listening skills; an ability to support the success of others; the ability to maintain a positive attitude
  • Evidence of the ability to effectively delegate assignments and identify accountability measures needed to ensure work is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
