Salary Range:
- $75,000-$85,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications; comprehensive benefits package

Job Description:
- The Business Manager is responsible for the management of all financial functions at Addison Community Schools, including but not limited to the accounting operations, annual audits, payroll, treasury management, budget development, state and federal programing and monitoring, implementation and management, grant administration and reporting, risk management and all applicable reporting requirements. This position is responsible for strategic planning, budget and business planning and serves as an important part of the Superintendent's Administrative Team.
Qualifications:
- B.A./B.S. in a related field, combined with five or more years in a comparable position will be considered
- Experience working in school finance and/or accounting is preferred
- Human resources experience preferred
- Appropriate maintenance of administrative continuing education requirements and possession or eligibility for MSBO Business Manager Certification and/or Chief Financial Officer Certification
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Michigan Public School Accounting Manual
- Demonstrated experience in budget development, financial forecasting, audits, and risk management
- Familiarity with collective bargaining and contract negotiations
- Knowledge of internal controls, external audits, and ensuring regulatory compliance
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent communication (oral, written and listening) and interpersonal skills to maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including board members, students, parents, and community members
- Maintain discretion at all times
Performance Responsibilities:
- Assume responsibility for budget development and long-range financial planning, including recommendations for budget shortfalls, cash flow, and investments
- Provide input to the Superintendent on all questions relating to the business and financial affairs of the district, including memberhsip estimates, fund balance outlook, Board Policy revisions, internal controls procedures, and human resources
- Serve as contributing member of the Superintedent's Administrative Team and relevant Board Subcommittees
- Acquire and maintain a thorough knowledge of all laws, rules regulations, and policies pertaining to the financial affairs of the District and interpret such informaiton for the Board and Administration
- Complete state and federal reporting requirements, including FID, SE-4096, SE-4094, Medicaid, Title I, and other grant reports
- Administer liability and casualty insurance programs and oversee benefits administration in compliance with laws and policies
- Support the Superintendent in collective bargaining, including contract interpretation and alignment with financial goals
- Prepare financial records for the annual audit as required by the laws of the state
- Manage tax levies, ensuring compliance with the Headlee Amendment, Truth in Taxation, and other legal requirements
- Oversee vendor management, ensuring compliance with purchasing agreements and contracts
- Prepare monthly financial reports and memos for Board action and decision-making
- Attend All committee, regular and special board meetings as requested by the Superintendent
- Maintain employee payroll records in accounting system and payroll files; add new employee pay, benefits and deduction records, enter employee payroll changes for gross pay, taxes deductions, benefits, and terminations
- Process bi-weekly payroll in the accounting system; enter hours for non-salaried employees from timesheets, run computing process and verify employee pay details
- Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent
