This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workdays. The NC Department of Environmental Quality trusts our employees to be self-motivated and successful in hybrid/remote roles. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management.
Description of Work:
The position is responsible for providing administrative support to the Chief Financial Officer, Controller and Administrative divisions of the Department of Environmental Quality and coordinating business processes that are agency wide. The occupant of this position will require general knowledge of all sections, functions and business practices within the division.
Key Responsibilities:
* Business administrative support for DEQ's central administrative units (Financial Services, Human Resources, Office of General Counsel, Office of the Secretary).
* Coordinating and supporting agency-wide business processes such as fixed asset accounting, surplus, indirect costs and agency-wide invoices.
* Serving as the back-up to other key Financial Services positions; the Payroll Accountant and P-Card Administrator.
* Problem solving issues within the Financial Services Division.
Division of Financial Services (FSD):
The Financial Services Division is a centralized organization committed to provide a variety of accounting, financial, budget and purchasing activities for DEQ. Responsibilities include a broad range of departmental accounting functions in the following areas: accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, purchasing, maintenance of the accounting systems, federal funds administration, contract management, and financial reporting.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:

Management Preferences:
* Prior experience with the North Carolina Financial System.
