The Position: The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for collaborating between all Great Dane departments, IT teams, external consultants, and vendors to translate business requirements into system functionality and solutions. Reporting to the Enterprise Applications Director, the position will ensure quality systems through comprehensive testing, and strive to continuously improve business process efficiency using technology solutions.
Responsibilities:
WHAT YOULL DO
- Gather, understand and document business objectives, specifications and requirements.
- Act as the primary liaison with key functions, understanding business and technology challenges, opportunities.
- Seek out opportunities for business process improvement with a focus on improved use of system functionality and data.
- Document business processes, requirements and functional designs, and understand usability.
- Participate in end user support for key application and data areas.
- Define and articulate business rules required for data accuracy and consistency.
- Identify and resolve data quality issues.
- Test and maintain computer programs and systems.
- Conduct investigational analysis and evaluation to determine project or application feasibility.
- Prioritize and satisfy multiple requests and system requirements to meet project objectives.
- Identify and understand issues that may impact day-to-day operations and/or projects and work with business users on evaluating solutions. Communicate status, solutions and concerns.
- Disseminate information in a timely manner within the team and across functions or teams.
- Establish and maintain relationships within the business or function.
- Develop training materials and train others as appropriate on specific area of business or systems expertise.
- Acquire new systems knowledge through networking, research, reading and formal training.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Your skills and abilities (required qualifications)
- Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Operations Management preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years work experience in applying information systems solutions to business challenges required. Experience as a business analyst on large projects or multiple concurrent small projects is required, specifically ERP implementation and support experience.
- Skills: Strong business acumen in more than one function, specifically in Purchasing, Sales Order Management, MPS/MRP, Inventory Management and Transportation Management.
- Exposure to one or more ERP system, with JD Edwards preferred.
- The ability to translate and communicate complex concepts across business functions.
- Experience with process/data mapping.
- Experience in system testing, problem resolution, and training.
- Knowledge of application development processes, SDLC preferred.
- Experience with project management is preferred.
- Must have good analytical, statistical and problem-solving skills. Must be detailed oriented
- Strong communication skills (verbal/written/listening). Must demonstrate patience with end users.
- Strong sense of urgency and follow-up skills.
- Demonstrated work ethic that emphasizes customer focus, quality and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work alone and in a team setting, often in a remote capacity.
- Experience with Business Intelligence tools (Power BI) and Repetitive Process Automation tools (Orchestrator) a plus.
- Travel: As needed.
