This position shares responsibility for managing, maintaining, documenting, evaluating, and continuously improving property and casualty insurance applications and processes within VLCT's Risk Management Services Department (RMS).Key requirements include, but are not limited to:Familiarity with property and casualty insurance applications desiredFamiliarity with SQL query language desired; proficiency strongly desired.Detailed knowledge of common Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).Understanding of relational databases.Ability to interpret and communicate analysis to non-technical end users.Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsEducation/experience requirements: An undergraduate degree or a related designation in business administration or a technology related field and three years of equivalent work experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required. Experience with application administration, preferably within a risk pool or insurance company, is preferred. Familiarity with HTML and XML; proficiency strongly desired. Project management experience is also desired.Salary commensurate with experience. Hiring salary range is $70,000 - $80,000. Applications accepted until the position is filled.Equal Opportunity EmployerNature and Scope of PositionThis position shares responsibility for managing, documenting, evaluating and continuously improving business processes and operational efficiencies in maintaining secure and effective system solutions that support VLCT's Risk Management Services Department's (RMS) business strategies. The position provides support to RMS business applications' end users throughout the system lifecycle: from requirements gathering through implementation, testing, production support, configuration modifications, and periodic product updates. The position works closely with the Sr. Business Analyst and the Document and Database Systems Administrator and reports to the Director, Information Technology.Duties and Responsibilities* Serves as co-administrator for RMS business applications including the Risk Management Information System (RMIS) which is currently Origami Risk. Shares responsibility for: all functional elements including vendor integrations; ensuring that the system meets the needs of end users; acting as liaison between RMS staff, other VLCT departments, and key vendors; troubleshooting and resolving system problems/errors and data validation issues; and report configuration. Supports efforts to improve data quality. RMIS administration includes but is not limited to:* Maintenance of user security roles.* User administration and support.* Design and maintenance of business workflows with input from end users.* Identification of opportunities for process efficiencies and automation.* Report template design, maintenance, and scheduling.* Configuration and maintenance of: dashboards; member portal; forms; mail merge templates; code tables; custom fields; alerts; data entry events; data imports; financial limits and approvals; data collection.* Develop test plans to verify logic of new or modified applications. Coordinate, test and communicate application changes with end users. Validate changes after implementation to ensure expected results are achieved.* Maintain working knowledge of business processes employed by all RMS Divisions (Underwriting, Claims, and Loss Control) to effectuate dynamic and meaningful reporting outcomes. Promote consistency and standardization in reporting outcomes.* Provide business application support and training to end users.* Participate in the development of detailed project requirements. Document and define current and future state of business processes as related to new and updated solutions.* Manage and monitor data management protocols, critically evaluating information gathered from multiple sources, reconciling differences, and distinguishing user requests from underlying organizational needs.* Support use of consistent data structure and nomenclature across applications to ensure data quality and integrity.* In conjunction with the Sr. Business Analyst, acts as liaison between the RMS, Finance, and IT departments/vendor, as well as other VLCT support services and business partners with respect to business analysis.* Conducts and participates in research to create comparisons with other insurance and municipal risk-sharing entities and participates in benchmarking efforts for organizational workflow and performance measurements.* Assists in the development of report creation and data analysis as requested by users.* Performs other duties and projects as assigned by the Director, Information TechnologyPosition Requirements:* Experience in the property and casualty insurance industry desired.* Experience with gathering and writing business and technical requirements, as well as process documentation desired.* Detailed knowledge of common Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).* Understanding of relational databases.* Familiarity with SQL query language desired; proficiency strongly desired.* Familiarity with HTML and XML; proficiency strongly desired.* Demonstrated aptitude to quickly learn new technical skills, including coding.* Experience with reporting and data analysis tools desired.* Ability to manage established deadlines and balance priorities.* Ability to ask, as well as answer, meaningful and impactful questions.
