Job Description:

The Business Systems Analyst provides critical support and direction for Whitson's manufacturing, supply chain inventory planning and distribution systems. System support includes a deep-knowledge of manufacturing, inventory management, forecasting and planning processes, working with business partners on new development, enhancements and fixes. Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Analysis:
    • Work closely with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business requirements.
    • Present solutions to business teams.
    • Manage project hours.
    • Develop business cases, project charters, and feasibility studies.
    • Identify opportunities for business process improvements and recommend solutions.
    • Familiar with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
    • Onboarding new vendors/updating existing vendor connections (this will include troubleshooting and testing with vendors)
    • Perform user acceptance testing.
    • Prioritize initiatives based on business needs and requirements.
    • Manage competing resources/priorities.
    • Identify effective solutions for business software system issues
    • Provide system support as needed (assist support team if they are unable to resolve an issue or serve as additional support during busy season).
    • Report common patterns, questions, and other issues to management
  • System Analysis:
    • Translate business requirements into technical specifications.
    • Collaborate with teams to design, develop, and implement system solutions.
    • Ensure systems are designed and developed according to best practices and business needs.
    • Perform system testing and quality assurance to ensure the functionality and performance of solutions.
    • Provide system support as needed (assist support team if they are unable to resolve an issue or serve as additional support during busy season).
    • Ensure that support tickets are being analyzed and closed on a timely basis and that customers are satisfied.
    • Familiar with basic CRUD operations on MS SQL or other SQL databases.
    • Ensure that system is operating efficiently. Troubleshoot any system issues
    • Provide solutions to departments for significant data imports.
    • Ensure budget and timeline constraints are met.
    • Create training processes and documentation to teach others how to use new features.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 4-8 years of experience in a similar role, with a focus on business analysis and system analysis.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in developing business requirements, process flows, and system documentation.
  • Knowledge and experience with database scripting (e.g., SQL) required.
  • Experience with project management methodologies and tools is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES: Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business or equivalent required
  • Masters in Computer Science or similar preferred
Certifications:
  • Project management certification
  • SQL certification
Computer Skills:
  • Working knowledge of help desk software, databases and remote control
  • Proven working experience in providing help desk support
Other Qualifications, Experience:
  • 3+ years' experience working at a manufacturing or distribution company.
  • Understanding of manufacturing, purchasing, inventory and warehouse operational processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail oriented, analytical and inquisitive.
  • Ability to work independently and with others.
  • Extremely organized with strong time-management skills.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC
  • Ability to travel when needed
