Position Summary:The Business Classroom Teacher is responsible for supporting student's success by ensuring the school day structure runs efficiently. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in education, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for students. We are currently seeking a teacher to plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential, by the mission and standards of Belmont Charter Network. This is a 10 month position that is supervised by a member of the school leadership team.Detailed Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and educational goals.
- Create a supportive and engaging classroom environment that promotes student learning and participation.
- Develop and implement unit and lesson plans that align to state standards in courses such as business administration, marketing, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and accounting.
- Partner with Philadelphia Financial Scholars to implement financial literacy and entrepreneurship courses.
- Prepare students for the A*S*K certification exam(s)
- Proficiency in the use of instructional technology to enhance student learning
- Ability to design an instructional program intended to address the racial achievement gap
- Assess student progress and provide feedback to students and parents/guardians.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum and instructional methods.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and school administrators.
- Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
- Execute school wide duties in accordance with school rules and procedures such as lunch, recess, hallway, or other duties in the school as assigned.
- Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
- Participate in department, school, district and parent meetings.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
- Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emails.
- Participate in appropriate professional activities.
- Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations as directed.
- Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds and a variety of individualized needs
- Previous experience working with children preferred
QualificationsQualifications:Education and Experience:
- B.A./B.S. degree from accredited institution;
- 1-2 years of classroom experience, preferably in urban education;
- Valid and active Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate;
- All employees must be able to provide Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check Clearance (Act 34), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151), Federal Bureau of Investigation Record Check Clearance (Act 114), and Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Clearance (Act 168) before starting work on campus
