Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Temporary Controller to provide financial leadership for a $30M division that manufactures automation equipment. This division operates in a job cost environment with a heavy focus on percentage-of-completion accounting. The Controller will be responsible for monthly financial statement closings, managing and supervising lower-level staff, and overseeing a variety of critical financial functions, including project profitability analysis, vendor invoice approvals, and contract payment terms. This is a temporary role based on-site in Forest, VA, with the potential for long-term employment, though the final decision on the position's duration is still in progress. Key Responsibilities:

* Monthly Financial Statement Closings: Oversee the month-end close process, including the preparation and management of journal entries, accruals, prepaids, balance sheet reviews, and flux analysis.

* Job Costing and Project Profitability: Work with management to analyze job costing and project profitability for projects exceeding $2M. Ensure accurate records for revenue recognition, cost analysis, and point of completion.

* Vendor Management: Review and approve vendor invoices, manage payment terms for contracts, and oversee credit memo management.

* Mid-Month Forecasting: Manage mid-month forecasts, ensuring accuracy and alignment with financial expectations.

* Reporting and Analysis: Prepare monthly financial statements, validate reports, and ensure everything submitted into the reporting system ties back to the general ledger (GL) and business unit (BU). Support quarterly revised outlooks and assist in preparing quarterly reports and reforecasts.

* Internal Controls and Inventory Reviews: Conduct quarterly inventory reviews, maintain internal control logs for customer master data changes, and manage vendor master change logs.

* Budgeting: Lead the annual budget preparation process and ensure timely submission.

* Ad Hoc Projects: Perform various ad hoc tasks, such as fixed asset audits and financial module upgrades in the XA by Infor ERP system, ensuring data accuracy before and after upgrades.

* Team Leadership: Manage and supervise a small team, which includes one other staff member, while collaborating with senior management to drive financial performance.

* Interaction with Management: Work closely with the General Manager and BU management to support financial decision-making and on-site interactions.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting (Master's degree or CPA designation is a plus).

* 8+ years of progressive financial experience, particularly in a manufacturing or custom equipment environment.

* High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.

* Experience with financial consolidation systems such as OneStream, Hyperion, Longview, or Prophix preferred.

* Experience with XA by Infor financial modules is a strong plus.

* Experience in percentage-of-completion accounting and cost analysis.
