APEX Placement and Consulting has partnered with an exciting company in Plymouth, MI looking to add a Marine Engine Components Buyer already amazing team. Their primary responsibility will be to ensure high quality, cost-effective products are sourced through their Marine supplier management team. Think this sounds like you? What your day will look like:

  • In-depth knowledge of internal combustion engines and their components.
  • Process internal purchase requisitions to support the custom Marine Department.
  • Identify and evaluate potential vendors for required components or services.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Sales teams to create and maintain Bills of Material (BOM).
  • Maintain purchasing documents, quotes, and supplier records.
  • Communicate and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and production teams regarding shipments, inventory, and deliveries.
  • Regularly review the Past Due List, contact suppliers for updates, and develop recovery plans.
  • Create and update weekly inventory reports to inform management about current supply situations and potential issues.
  • Order parts in alignment with MRP and forecasted demand.
  • Evaluate supplier quotes and negotiate agreements to improve cost, delivery, quality, lead time, and payment terms.
  • Negotiate and resolve damage claims, rejections, returns, over-shipments, cancellations, and engineering changes with suppliers.
  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Provide timely information and support to Marine Sales, Service, and Engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams to prepare RFQs.
  • Research and resolve cost-related issues with the Accounting Team.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management
  • 5 + years of equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Experience in purchasing engine components and related parts.
  • Proficiency in working within an ERP environment; Epicor knowledge is a plus.
  • Familiarity with quality systems such as ISO, PPAP, and FMEA is a plus.
