APEX Placement and Consulting has partnered with an exciting company in Plymouth, MI looking to add a Marine Engine Components Buyer already amazing team. Their primary responsibility will be to ensure high quality, cost-effective products are sourced through their Marine supplier management team. Think this sounds like you? What your day will look like:
- In-depth knowledge of internal combustion engines and their components.
- Process internal purchase requisitions to support the custom Marine Department.
- Identify and evaluate potential vendors for required components or services.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Sales teams to create and maintain Bills of Material (BOM).
- Maintain purchasing documents, quotes, and supplier records.
- Communicate and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and production teams regarding shipments, inventory, and deliveries.
- Regularly review the Past Due List, contact suppliers for updates, and develop recovery plans.
- Create and update weekly inventory reports to inform management about current supply situations and potential issues.
- Order parts in alignment with MRP and forecasted demand.
- Evaluate supplier quotes and negotiate agreements to improve cost, delivery, quality, lead time, and payment terms.
- Negotiate and resolve damage claims, rejections, returns, over-shipments, cancellations, and engineering changes with suppliers.
- Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Provide timely information and support to Marine Sales, Service, and Engineering teams.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams to prepare RFQs.
- Research and resolve cost-related issues with the Accounting Team.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management
- 5 + years of equivalent relevant work experience.
- Experience in purchasing engine components and related parts.
- Proficiency in working within an ERP environment; Epicor knowledge is a plus.
- Familiarity with quality systems such as ISO, PPAP, and FMEA is a plus.
