Gulf Coast Alloy Welding (GCAW) is a pressure vessel fabricator based in Houston, Texas. With a reputation for precision and quality, GCAW specializes in manufacturing high-performance equipment for the oil, gas, and chemical industries.
Position Overview:
The Buyer will be responsible for overseeing the entire purchasing process, including negotiating with suppliers, managing vendor lists, and ensuring timely delivery of materials. In addition to purchasing duties, this role will also handle miscellaneous office management tasks to support the overall functionality of the office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the entire purchasing process, from requisitions to order completion.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors to negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and quality standards.
- Evaluate and select suppliers based on price, quality, and reliability.
- Maintain and update the vendor list, ensuring all information is accurate and up-to-date.
- Monitor inventory levels and forecast purchasing needs to avoid shortages or overstock.
- Work closely with the operations team to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Handle miscellaneous office management tasks, including ordering office supplies, managing office equipment, and assisting with general administrative duties.
- Assist in tracking and reporting on purchasing metrics, ensuring cost efficiency and timely delivery.
- Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with accounts payable to ensure accurate and timely payment of vendors.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Buyer, Purchasing Agent, or in a similar procurement role.
- Strong negotiation skills and vendor relationship management.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with purchasing software or systems is a plus.
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Experience with ERP systems
