POSITION SUMMARY:The Buyer role is responsible for the purchasing of new and existing parts based on demand in company ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system, including assisting in supplier selection, supplier evaluation, and providing recommendations on changes in both process and partners to Supply Chain Manager. This role works extensively in an ERP environment and the ability to RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Purchases existing parts from both domestic and international suppliers based on demands in ERP system
- Requests pricing from suppliers and update internal systems with up-to-date information
- Negotiates pricing, terms, and schedules to obtain most optimal advantage to the company
- Checks on materials and expedites or de-expedites in accordance with demand
- Negotiates schedule changes with suppliers as required to support demand changes
- Communicates schedule adjustments to reflect availability of parts
- Plans purchases to best utilize inventory and best minimize inventory investment taking into account physical space requirements, shelf-life, total landed value, etc.
- Supports new product development with the procurement activities
- Evaluates new suppliers, primarily for alternative sources of existing product
- Performs supplier visits, primarily local, as requested and provides written summaries to management
- Records and maintains documentation from transactions for supplier evaluation and problem resolution
- Periodically updates and submits open order reports and forecasts to assigned suppliers
- Records order acknowledgements in purchase orders and attaches records
- Tracks incoming orders as needed using freight forwarder software tool
- Update Supplier Scorecards monthly and provides suppliers with scorecards quarterly
- Other duties as assigned including training others on known processes
HOURS:This is a full-time 40 hour per week role working four ten-hour days Monday - Thursday between the hours of 6:00am and 6:00pm. Occasionally longer hours may be required. REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Two years of experience in domestic and international purchasing in an ERP/MRP environment
- Proficiency in reading and writing in English
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- APICS Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, or similar field
- Proficiency in reading and writing in English

- Excellent written and verbal communications skills are essential for this role including communicating with those whose first language is not English
