AMVAC is currently looking for a BUYER to work in their Purchasing Department at their Axis, AL location. The Buyer is responsible for purchasing raw materials and completing MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) orders; entering the orders into the ERP system (QAD); maintaining purchasing files and coordinating approval of invoices with accounts payable.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
* Review purchase requisitions for accuracy and conformance with established policies and procedures
* Place orders (MRO and Raw Materials) with reputable suppliers
* Enter 'Order and Receiving' Reports using QAD manufacturing (ERP) software
* Track orders and notify departments of the expected delivery dates
* Follow up on back orders; expedite orders when necessary
* Maintain accurate Purchase Order (P.O.) files
* Explore cost saving opportunities
* Provide quality customer service and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and internal customers
* Comply with company policies for regulatory, safety & environmental requirements
* Perform other assignments as necessary or directed by management
Skills & Qualifications
* 3+ years of purchasing experience required; manufacturing experience preferred
* Familiarity with MRO - Maintenance, Repair, Operations - purchasing desired
* ERP data entry experience required; QAD experience a plus
* Exceptional skills with EXCEL and MS WORD
* Customer service oriented with excellent communication skills - internal and external
* Knowledge of purchasing practices and strategy
* Basic knowledge of accounting procedures
* Team player
* Must be able to pass background check, drug test and other tests as required
Education Requirements
* Bachelor's or Associate's degree preferred
* High School Diploma or equivalent Required
