Shift/hours requirements:

Students can expect to work between 36-40 hours per week.

Students must be very open the first 3 weeks of the co-op for orientation.

Job responsibilities:

The Certified Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Assistant (PCA) as we call it, functions as a member of the patient care team, under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), and proficiently and consistently performs all aspects of the PCA role.

Responsible for supporting the RN with clinical tasks,

* including but not limited to blood glucose monitoring

* completing EKGs

* applying simple dressings

* using aseptic technique

* responding to medical emergency situations utilizing Heartsaver CPR and AED skills.

* responding to the needs of patients and family members

* taking an active role in the efficient operation of the unit.

* Assure the practice of the Patient and Family Centered Care Model in an environment that exemplifies best practice.

As a member of the nursing department, nursing coop students would be able to join various nursing professional development activities offered throughout the year. As a BWFH employee, a variety of well-being offerings are available through the Employee Assistance Program.

I-9 form (used for verifying the identity & employment authorization of individuals hired for employment in the US)

Compensation: $18.50/hour starting pay

Transportation from NU to Brigham and Women's Faulkner:

Bicycle Racks

There are bicycle racks to the left of the Main entrance of the hospital as well as at the entrance of the back parking garage behind the hospital.

Shuttle Schedule

We have shuttles running to the hospital weekdays between:

Brigham and Women's Hospital (75 Francis Street) to Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital.

Orange Line- Forest Hill Station to Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital.

Highland MBTA Station, West Roxbury and Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital

Public Transportation/MBTA

MBTA Bus #38, Wren Street, stops directly in front of Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital on Centre Street. The Wren Street bus shuttles between the West Roxbury business district and Forest Hills station where it connects with the Orange Line and other bus routes. Buses are scheduled to run every 20 minutes during AM and PM rush hours, and less frequently during mid-day.

Onsite Parking

Available only for Staff working an Evening, Night, weekends, or holiday shift.

General requirements:

* Currently enrolled in BSN program required.

* NRSG 2000, NRSG 2220/1 - Nursing Interventions and Assessment Lab Required

* AHA Heartsaver, CPR and AED program required.

* CNA/PCA experience preferred.

* CNA Certification if not a nursing student.

Occasionally, a student outside of nursing major will be considered by the nurse director but the student must be a Certified Nursing Assistant.
