Job Description: Reports To: Outpatient Services RN Employee Type: EXEMPT X NON-EXEMPT POSITION SUMMARY: RN is a registered nurse with generalknowledge in areas such as IV administration, wound care, case management,within the scope of the RN standards of practice. This position description is intendedto identify some of the duties and responsibilities of this position. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Graduateof an accredited school of nursing. 2. Current licensure in good standing inthe state of California. 3. Maintainscurrent CPR certification. 4. ACLSrequired within one year of hire date. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: General Competencies: 1. Professionalbehavioris demonstrated, both when on duty and as a representative of MMHD outside ofnormal work hours. 2. Ability to work with others, at all levels within theorganization, and collaborate effectively. 3. Above-average interpersonal, problem-solving, and written and oralcommunication skills. 4. Ability to make appropriate recommendationsor conclusions, given the data obtained. 8. Maintains an organized set of records, uponrequest, for the functions that are performed within the scope of this job. 9. Communicates appropriately and clearly todirectors, managers, and coworkers. 10.Performs all assigned tasks accurately, toinclude proper spelling and grammar, reference materials, and minimalmathematical calculation. 11.Takes direction from others to include thoseemployees of other departments with which he/she works on a temporary basis inaccordance with the chain of command. 12.Maintains all information as confidential asappropriate, to include personnel information, and other information obtainedduring the course of performing job duties that is confidential. 13.Demonstrates ability to effectively use officemachines in the performance of job functions. 14.Answers phone calls, assists public, andforwards appropriately if necessary and in a professional and friendly manner. 15.Other duties as assigned. SpecificCompetencies: 1. Demonstratesproficiency in accurate assessment, prevention, identification, documentationand care planning/recommendation of appropriate interventions for skin andwound/ostomy care of acute, long-term care, and outpatients. 2. Acts as a resource person for nursing staffwith regard to patients skin/wound/ostomy care needs. 3. Demonstrates proficiency in accurateidentification, access, assessment and care, documentation, and care planningfor all types of venous access devices, including but not limited to peripheralIVs, PICC, V.A.D., Central Venous Catheters. 4. Is knowledgeable, and demonstrates competencyregarding IV infusion protocols for a variety of medications including but notlimited to antibiotics, blood, and blood products such as immunoglobulin. 5. Demonstrates competency in properadministration of IM/SQ injections. 6. Demonstrates competency in venipuncture andphlebotomy. 7. Demonstrates competency in sterile techniquerequired for various catheter insertions, in addition to physician assist forsterile procedures such as paracentesis, lumbar puncture, etc. 8. Responsible for carrying out prescribedphysician orders and scheduling patients to complete patient care as ordered. 9. Responsible for assessment, care planning,intervention, and re-evaluation of all patients referred to the Outpatientdepartment. 10. Communicatessignificant assessment findings to the patients physician in a timely manner. 11. Communicatesclearly with patients, physicians, and staff regarding patient condition, anychanges in condition, and the treatment plan of care. 12. Utilizes thenursing process and critical thinking strategies to implement individualizedcare. 13. Strives toconsistently improve customer service through continual development of clinicalexpertise and current knowledge of healthcare trends and evidence basedpractice. 14. Is familiarwith regulatory requirements as they apply to the nursing practice. ProfessionalRequirements: 1. Adheres to dress code; appearance is neat andprofessional. 2. Completes annual education requirements ifapplicable. 3. Maintains regulatory requirements. 4. Wears identification while on duty. 5. Attends annual evaluation and participatesactively in this process. 6. Reports to work on time and as scheduled;completes work in designated time. 7. Attends all meetings as appropriate. 8. Exhibits the mission, ethics and goals of MayersMemorial Hospital District in the performance of job duties 9. Performs other duties, as assigned. WORKING CONDITIONS: 1. Willingness to work beyondnormal working hours and in other positions, temporarily when necessary. 2. Is involved with personnel, visitors, and governmentagencies, etc., when necessary. 3. Must function independently, have personalintegrity, have flexibility and the ability to work effectively with otherpersonnel, clients and support agencies. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Sits, stands, bends, lifts, walks and moves intermittently during workinghours. 2. Able to lift 50 lbs. Position Urgency: Normal Shifts: Monday-Friday, 8 hour days State License Details: Must Be Currently Active Minimum Years of Experience: 2 Minimum Guaranteed Hours: 30 Specialty Type: Agency must sign facility's standard agreement. 121 critical access hospital 22 acute beds and 99 long term care beds Sub Specialty: Wound Care General Certifications:, N/A Nursing Certifications: Contract Length in Weeks: 13
