Job DescriptionDescription of essential job functions:Transports WIP, finished goods, and/or raw materials with forklift or other devices as needed to fill orders. Must be able to understand customer specifications. Responsible for the correct cut length and reel, box, and pallet. Must know how to read and execute set up sheets, internal procedures, and policies. Writes proper product information on finished products. Must fill out paperwork properly and label all finished pallets, reels, or bags with proper product code to keep from causing late or incorrect shipments to customers.Must be able to prepare cables for assembly and attach proper connectors on the cables. Capable of mixing and applying epoxy, using polishing machines and films, curing in ovens, complete end face geometry and insertion and return loss measurements. Will need to understand different connector types, fiber types, and cable types and setup sheets to properly process the assemblies. Must be team oriented with a high focus on safety, quality, continuous improvement, good communications skills, and ability to follow through on both verbal and written instructions. Performs all necessary housekeeping duties to keep the department clear and orderly. Performs other duties as assigned.Jreferred qualifications for this position:

  • Equipment used:
    • Forklift, cable respooler, banding equipment, tape measure, stretch wrapper, stencils, label laminator, pulling eye machine, propane torches, computer, calculator, tag printer, and miscellaneous hand tools, furcation tubing, connectors, connector application equipment, final assembly test equipment.
  • Material Used:
    • Reel wrap material, stretch wrap, boxes, banding material, inks, lumber, nails, staples, skids, labels, pressure boots, heat shrink sleeve, pulling eyes, and reels, epoxy, tags, polishing films, tech cloth, pulling sock.
In order to perform this job satisfactorily, applicant must be able to:
  • Interact with all equipment, building, and associates in a safe manner. Must be consistently safety conscience and use good safety practices.
  • Can effectively follow direction to prepare cable for length and connectors, chose and apply proper type and number of connectors to the correct fibers, wrap, label, and document properly for shipment.
  • Can retrieve proper cables and materials and make necessary cuts to meet customer specifications.
  • Skill needed to perform various duties such as wrapping and marking pallets. Operating of forklift is required.
  • Requires a legible handwriting, reading ability, computer knowledge, computation ability, and be able to respond to new product and their packaging.
  • Knowledge of proper packaging material required; knowledge of the product is required.
  • Knowledge of the customer specs required for proper cut length, reel boxes and skids.

  • Regularly required to work near moving mechanical parts on cable reeler.
  • Able to move and/or lift up to 75 lbs. - instruction required on safe lifting practices.
  • Frequently required to walk, sit, use hands and hand tools.
  • Our fiber lab is a casual clean environment that offers state of the art manufacturing equipment.
