Designs major components or major portions of a functional system to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Utilizes CAD equipment to develop basic data and make preliminary layouts, sketches and notes necessary to present design proposals. Investigates and makes decisions regarding pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, contractual specification requirements and cost. Experienced professional with proficient knowledge of job area and practical knowledge of project management.May manage projects or processes with general supervision.Communicates with contacts inside and outside of own department to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures.Recommends enhancements to systems and processes.Works to achieve operational targets for specific programs and projects with moderate impact on departmental results. Must- Haves (Hard Skills)In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience, Bachelor s and a minimum of 4 years or prior related experience, or a Graduate Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experienceExperience in the use of 3D CAD (preferably PTC Creo).Preferred experience in design of electronic equipment. Secondary experience in design of industrial equipment or automotive componentsStrong communication skills and enjoys working with other people, developing relationships and sharing knowledge Nice-To- Haves (Hard Skills)PTC Creo 3D CADExperience with AutoCADDefense/Military electronics packaging experienceFamiliarity with MIL-STD-810 environmental standardsExperience in performing tolerance stack-up analysis HS.
